zeniramaI'm not saying they don't like or don't listen to it I'm just saying it wouldn't shock me if there were posters who artificially inflated the numbers just for appearances. Like I said there are people who display their RYM publicly so people can see how avant garde their music taste is. This really isn't that much of a stretch to me
It is a stretch because of the level of dedication
We've all downloaded certain "great" albums we know we won't like on top of music we do like to feel like we have good taste. It takes 20 secs tops to look up Pink Floyd - Dark of the Moon zip on Google and download the album - no dedication. Same with RYM
But do you know how much dedication would go into going out of your way to (either by listening or leaving on play) have so much of this "good taste" music in your top artists over music you actually "like"?
It just isn't rational or worth the effort no matter how thirsty for validation you are
