ValentineI think it’s all happening behind the scenes with a combination of what you said and simply the parents of these kids at elite schools and elite parties with the elite social circles or “if you know you know” social circles with major connections via their parents or themselves sharing music they like where when it gets to me and you it’s like wait, how did they manage to get that co-sign? also microinfluencers are a big thing now, where you pay trending pages to boost your music which these type of people might be on
take for example Destin Conrad who’s fairly not known mainstream, why the f*** is Malia and Sasha Obama pulling up to his house party show? because them and their elite friends were probably bumping it and sharing it with others which worked to his benefit unbeknownst in future co-signs like Joe Budden knowing and touting his music
I could see with Destin maybe the Obama girls were fans of him off of Vine, where he was pretty popular, they're right in the age demo for that

vingui've speculated about this for years but there has to be a sub-music industry complex of co-signs. like no way shillie eyelash was getting organic co-signs from zion yorke and michael gira and whoever else. they gotta be paying people under the table somehow to talk good on their chosen one's name. no real way to track that kind of transaction, easy to get away with... idk man it's just a hunch but this s*** always been fishy to me

aight maybe you're right but it made a little more sense back then because swans still had some blog cred and it slightly checked out that they wanted to cover all their bases in terms of getting all caliber of cosigns: like hey even "important" artists fw our artist!!
