There are just weirdos on the left who think private business should be abolished and weirdos on the right (who actually have power and influence) that think the government should just enforce laws and discriminate

MangoUS doesn't have free-for-all capitalism without safety nets. Every time the system fails the government intervenes. They just intervene on the behalf of business interests, not the public. It's not just market forces.
The "social democracy" you're describing is just the new deal democrat form of capitalism mainly defined by big social programs and a strong presence of organized labor. The system that actually led to what we have now.

More expensive? You mean like inflation and relative wages? Well that's specific to their economy. The US never had the nordic model. Sweden specifically has been subject to some neoliberal reforms over the years, their housing specifically. David Harvey refers to as a "circumscribed neoliberalism". New Deal Democracy was the closest the US came to any of that.

Boom and bust, the business cycle, is inherent to capitalism. Classical economics had no answers for that. Keynesian economics was developed to regulate the economy to minimize those downturns. Neoliberal economics contends that regulation is what causes them in the first place. Regardless, the state has to intervene in some fashion or people end up out of work and starving in the streets.
The system is literally designed to fail over and over.

For What i value personally as a 20 year old black guy US cities are unmatched in the world save 1 or 2 exceptions
Im sure khak urban planners would cream about some 99% white city in denmark where poc don’t get into clubs or some “vintage” italian city that’s even more racist but with the added benefit of only being able to make $18,000/yr as a college grad....
But to me i value a city like nyc or an atl wayy more. Atl is basically a black metropolis, u got boujie black people, black people in entertainment, black hipsters everything
