Then all the nerds in my poli Sci classes would say bigoted s*** and wanted to just intern for the state department and my first professor was low-key a supporter of the sandinistas and it was uphill from there
Saudis and OPEC wanna cut oil production. It seems they're getting fed up with the US for several reasons. US-EU is trying to do this 'oil price cap' bullshit right now and other measures to push down the price of oil and the saudis do not like that, so they're going to cut production to counter and drive the price back up. also they see some long term value in pivoting more toward China and Russia, so they're kind of riding the fence a bit the way Turkey is. They also think the US has not helped them enough in countering Iran and winning in Yemen or Syria, and they're pissed at Biden/Dems in particular for all the human rights posturing and threats over MBS and Khashoggi. The US alliance hasn't been delivering the way the Saudis want lately, the East is looking pretty good long term, and they're pissed at the US somewhat.
I didn't get to go but he had one class that would go on trips to Nicaragua and hang out with the old sandanista leadership lol what a guy
Man was eating his own s*** to prove he was insane
Gotta do what you can to survive.
But yeah his life was legit a movie. Stalin's and Lenin's life too. Lenin's life was basically an anime revenge arc about his brother's execution by the Tsar to overthrowing his son

We went to Hiroshima and an Oxford student after having visited the Hiroshima Atomic Bomb Museum and stuff was still like "yeah um the utilitarian argument clearly speaks for the atomic bomb"
The Japanese Foreign Ministry paid for my trip, it was basically like a soft power propaganda trip. Lodging, flight, food
Wish I had freaked some girls over there but I was loyal to my GF at the time...we broke up a month or so after I came back home. Oh well.

i know a lot of saudi business people and saudi really wants to mimic china structurally. their massive investment strategy is meant to mimic quasi-gov conglomerates like tencent, netease, etc. - only thing is they dont hide behind rhetoric so theyre just outright say "yeah we're using govt funds for capitalist enterprise". a lot of saudi posturing tends to be because they really badly want the country to be in the same position as china on a long term basis esp. in terms of US economic intertwining w big business etc.

I always put Saudi-Arabia and China in the same category of state capitalist. If Saudi's are smart that's what they should do. Trying neoliberalism in a country where basically one big company keeps everyone afloat would be insane
I remenber in one of my classes tho I brought up how most millenials are starting to favor socialism and most of the others agreed it was for the best. One kid was fuming lol

yeah they're a really clear example of state capitalism. their 2040 strategy is basically like "x% of US tech & FIRE sector investments will be from us instead of china"
Worst s*** ever was going to the Cafe with this one girl from my classes and this conservative ass hat music major interrupts us to tell me how higher taxes on the wealthy isn't good

Today I thought about how insane Germany's economic suicide right now is. The USA did a masterstroke with this Ukraine war and getting the Green Party sycophants into power
I had to pretend I didn't want to strangle him. Its not like he just gave an off hand comment. Guy joined the whole convo smh

His great grandpa's cousin (same royal family tree) was a high ranking German general who was pretty important in WW2
On a more serious note I was walking out of my con law class and these f***ing lames were talking about how Kavanaugh couldn't have committed sexusl assault because a guy like him wouldn't need to with a girl like that.

He was recalled at the beginning of World War II as commander of Army Group South in the invasion of Poland. He commanded Army Group A during the Battle of France, and requested the Halt Order during the Battle of Dunkirk. He was promoted to the rank of Field Marshal in 1940. In the invasion of the Soviet Union, he commanded Army Group South, responsible for the largest encirclement in history, the Battle of Kiev. He was relieved of command in December 1941 after authorizing the withdrawal from Rostov, but was recalled in 1942 and appointed Commander-in-Chief in the West.
He was dismissed after the German defeat in Normandy in July 1944, but was again recalled as Commander-in-Chief in the West in September, holding this post until his final dismissal by Adolf Hitler in March 1945. Though aware of the various plots to depose Hitler, Rundstedt neither supported nor reported them. After the war, he was charged with war crimes, but did not face trial due to his age and poor health. He was released in 1949, and died in 1953.
College was fun times.
Now I try to make sure a bunch of preteens learn how to read write and be decent while hoping no one is offended at the books in my classroom
