    and i agree

that's why its hard to go 1 to 1 with maoism in the US, its like, you have to extrapolate a lot, and there are many, many contradicitons

You're better off conceding the US to capitalism imo, it is the biggest progenitor and supporter of the system

@ARCADE_GOON i know u weren’t a fan of the faction ban by Lenin im just curious on your opinion on Stalins justification of it

“But from this it follows that the existence of factions is compatible neither with the Party’s unity nor with its iron discipline. It scarcely needs proof that the existence of factions leads to the existence of a number of centres, and the existence of a number of centres means the absence of one common centre in the Party, the breaking up of unity of will, the weaken- ing and disintegration of discipline, the weakening and disintegration of the dictatorship. Of course, the parties of the Second International, which are fighting against the dictatorship of the proletariat and have no desire to lead the proletarians to power, can afford such liberalism as freedom of factions, for they have no need at all for iron discipline. But the parties of the Communist International, whose activities are conditioned by the task of achieving and consolidating the dictatorship of the proletariat, cannot afford to be “liberal” or to permit freedom of factions.
The Party represents unity of will, which precludes all factionalism and division of authority in the Party.
Hence Lenin’s warning about the “danger of factionalism from the point of view of Party unity and of effecting the unity of will of the van- guard of the proletariat as the fundamental condition for the success of the dictatorship of the proletariat,” which is embodied in the special resolution of the Tenth Congress of our Party “On Party Unity.”32
Hence Lenin’s demand for the “complete elimination of all factional- ism” and the “immediate dissolution of all groups, without exception, that have been formed on the basis of various platforms,” on pain of “uncondi- tional and immediate expulsion from the Party.” (See the resolution “On Party Unity.”)”

Either way I think this is mostly an opportunistic post hoc justification when the reasons stated at the time were because of the crises of the civil war didn't allow for any formation of factions.

Without factions you're basically banking on the idea that party leadership is gonna hold the correct line every time, which seems to be more of an exception than a rule if we're gonna look at history.

I think the reason Cuba hasn't collapsed like the USSR or turned capitalist like China is partly because their system allowed for more democracy, now this wasn't because of party democracy, their national assembly actually doesn't members from the Communist party at all, but there was no ban on factions in their political system in the name of unity.

rereading foundation of leninism and from reading bunch of Mao, peasants seem to be a necessary for a revolution, and with the lack of peasants in the west world, what other alliance can the paroles make lumpen or lower end of petty bourgeoisie ? are they any good readings on this question ?

as of right now there is no revolutionary potential as there is no alliances that can overpower the bourgeois allied groups.

my personal theory is that you would need an alliance along oppressed minority groups in the united states allying along lines of contradictions that capitalism will not be able to manifest itself in ways to resolve. these people are predisposed to class consciousness through education of their material conditions. pretty much taking on the idea of "the weakest link" in the chain of imperialism but domestically instead of internationally.

obviously the proles have material interests in opposition to the bourgeois but w all the criss crossing of what dictates proles as a class as mentioned throughout the thread makes the dictation highly granular and unspecified. i think the vertical reach of reaching out to allies being oppressed intersectionally will be the best way to create an allied block domestically while minimizing alliances w largely counterrevolutionary groups. obviously in tandem with agitation among the proles.

prob revisionist in some aspect but until mass class consciousness can be achieved this is the best bet imo
