Long live the peoples war in India!

watched Red Ant Dream recently and thinking all those revolutionaries they interviewed are probably dead by now
Honestly reading so much about history has made me really pessimistic and depressed. It's hard to see the light in the world knowing all of these systemic issues in Capitalism.
I noticed this when I started to slog throughout all of my books I was reading, I dropped to like 5-10 pages a day at most, and when systemic-analysis and thinking about the worlds issues would still be in my f***ing brain when I would go on a walk to clear my head.
Going to take a break from reading history and rev theory. Going to focus on something else. I've decided to get my Spanish level back up to par, I haven't been able to read more advanced texts that I would like so doing that is something I'm excited for.

No offense but if you see all the systemic issues with capitalism wouldn't that give you optimism knowing that it will inevitably fall?

Capitalism failing isn’t a guarantee of socialism being built

in my experience doing mutual aid and working for food kitchens womens shelters etc is the salve for existential pessimism as a result of education. obviously we can't ignore the extreme and violent nature of our reality, but revolutionary optimism is important, both for building socialism and for our collective well being.

Not sure if Cudder thinks like that but many Maoists think socialism is literally in every sense of the word inevitable which I always found strange

If it was I’d be an accelerationist
But 3 isn’t the only thing that comes after 2

The idea that communism is inevitable, I pretty much subscribe to. Revolutionary optimism is a big thing with Maoists but I don’t think it’s exclusive just to them. I see plenty of MLs who preach revolutionary optimism.
As long as there is a working class being exploited Marxism will never die. There is a revolutionary potential in every worker just waiting to be lit.
Lenin, Mao and many others have said that there is no straight line to communism but that there will be many successes and failures until it is reached. No better evidence of this than how today communism is more Marxism is more popular than it has ever been post the dissolution of the Soviet Union. A hundred years of anti-communist propaganda along with an uncountable amount of murders and arrests of revolutionaries. Yet Marxism is still alive and well.
It may not occur in my lifetime but as long as there’s a working class communism is inevitable.

I disagree. Capitalism can morph another system where the productive class is still subjugated. In fact - it is too early to tell - but maybe we will see the first signs of this soon, when the rate of profit is almost zero, when automation is very advanced and capital is very monopolized.
The fall of capitalism might be inevitable, but what replaces it is unclear. Socialists try to take advantage of capitalism withering away, but I don't think it is scientifically prudent to say socialism is inevitable.
Also, humans could die off in masses before any communism happens due to climate change or nuclear war.
MLs are optimist in will, but pessimist in action. We plan for the worst case and are not as trusting of current society as for example anarchists, who think a high-trust society can occur rather quickly.
IMO, saying communism is inevitable also gives rise to LARPers who can sit back and say "well it's gonna happen anyway so i don't have to do anything about it"

But revolutionary optimism is not revolutionary determinism.
If communism is inevitable, why even do any organizing? It's gonna happen regardless
If communism is inevitable and it's because of capitalism's inherent contradictions, why not become an accelerationist to speed up the process?
Besides the fact that I think the idea that it's inevitable has little basis in reality. The logical conclusions you could take from that idea are also counterproductive and also potentially dangerous.

man anytime i see any new innovation or scientific breakthrough or whatever my first thought is "how is someone gonna exploit a bunch of people and profit from this" sigh

When wall street and the city gets their quantum computers we’re f***ed
God they’re good
"Thanks to the bravery of our troops, this horrible terrorist leader is no more."
the irony here
at least we can all agree he got what he deserved
