yall check this out, an absolutely stunning 34 part (!) travel documentary on the DPRK. fantastic look at the urban boom of pyongyang, the rural commune system, and how the legacy of marxism-leninism has endured so much even after the collapse of the USSR is now decades in the rear view mirror.

gonna follow up this documentary suggestion with another one, Loyal Citizens of Pyongyang in Seoul.

a lot shorter but no less essential.

I've been reading A History of the Cuban Revolution by Aviva Chomsky as well,

    Serious question :

If Bernie or Warren is candidate (I hope one is) how effective would Trump just constantly calling them socialists (in a negative way) be to most casual Americans?

Don't care about either of them but its just choir preaching that riles up his own base of people who don't vote for democrats.

I mostly agree. And while I despise centrism I do wonder if there’s enough dumb casual people who won’t vote Trump but will hear “socialist” and refuse to vote for one as well.

At this point there's nothing Trump can say to casual Bernie voters to talk them out their votes. If people don't know after 5 years of media circus that Bernie calls himself a "socialist" than they've either been in a coma or they just got here.

Again I’m not talking about “casual Bernie voters”. There’s plenty of people in this country who literally sit in the middle and are mostly clueless but watch the debates.

They dont care if he's a socialist or not, its the "policy wonk" liberal elitists who actually keep track of this horseshit who have a problem with his tenuous connection to socialism. Normal working class people actually have real problems and Bernie at least speaks to those in a superficial way.

16 pages and ain't nobody answer my question AND y'all don't have some literature for people to explore

BSoA has a good list with good theory. Some stuff obviously, based in black socialism but it's mainly general.

"The following readings were written by figures who actually implemented various forms of State Capitalism and supported authoritarianism, but who are mistakenly considered by many to be among the first individuals to bring “real” Socialism or Communism to the world. The values in these works, along with certain Anarchist works, are also frequently operationalized by fascists all around the world (see here for more on this)."

They're anti-communists who also advocate for US militarism, social democracy, and do the usual dirtbag left thing of calling successful socialist countries "state capitalist" and "authoritarian". If you're looking for a specifically black-led socialist organization in the US (a real organization mind you, because BSA only exists as a website and twitter account), the A-APRP and NABPP exist and have solid reading resources.
