the cold war and FDR's death was the worst thing to happen to the modern U.S in terms of the future for the country

the new deal (which would most likely be considered radically socialist now) was picked apart and ravaged by conservative vultures, truman was staunchly an anti-communist while FDR could get along and anything remotely left-leaning became taboo due to cold war-era capitalist nationalism

america could've had relatively positive relations with the USSR and we wouldn't have to worry as much about arms races

we have been f***ing ourselves time and time again, we have the resources for prosperity but the neoliberal politicians don't want it and want to drain out as much as they can for absolute wealth and thats why education and public services have always been cut and mocked by conservatives, because it may lead to class consciousness

that's what i don't get about a lot of hardcore capitalists on here, they dismiss it as fantasy when it really can happen

a CIA whistleblower even said that the reason america didn't want truly successful leftist governments around was because the upper brass of the gov didn't want the people to see that they could have something better than capitalism and so we couldn't demand more, as these other countries successfully did

kind of a dumb ramble but i hate seeing the government fail so hard for its people when it shouldn't, even though i understand why, it's not a pleasant sight
