Talked with a Vietnamese dude at a bar that his parent's own Thursday night and he was interested in me a bit since my gf was born there.

Just asking my experience with her family culture, and then he asked if I knew what the flag of Vietnam was

Asked specifically if her family flew the star flag or the 3 red stripes lol. I assumed his past family fled from southern Vietnam and settled in America.

Also makes sense that during Jan 6th that same flag was flown during the protests lol

It's really interesting seeing our generation being a bit further from that era of war and seeing the influence it has on the people that immigrate to the US.

Truth is half of the Vietnamese abroad are those who supported the capitalist side in the war and got ran out

I agree on that part. Also doesn't help that war, famine, and other forces outside of capitalism (Cambodia and China) were f***ing up Vietnam as well. The people leaving 15 years after it was united could have been from the north as well.

Plus the initial goal was to unite Vietnam before class revolution

In Germany, a lot of the Vietnamese actually are descendants of Vietnamese working in East Germany as part of a socialist-partnership between East Germany and Vietnam in which Vietnam offered workers in exchange for East German expertise in engineering et cetera. But in the USA, the Vietnamese are mostly those who got ran out.

The diaspora can be very different than the population of a country. Iran is another prime example, or Cuba.

I dont blame you for thinking that about Iran too. Me too personally have rarely ever met an Iranian that wasn't an "Infidel" and I've lived and studied there

As a foreigner the experiences you had with Iranians that s*** on Islam makes you think that it must surely be different inside iran but i kid you not all them mandatory islamic thoughts papers in Uni is just for s***s and giggles, very few respect islam and what the clergy stands for.

You’re a really dumb and mentally ill person. At least the voices in Frankitos head give him some degree of historical literacy even if they lead him to very bizarre places. You on the other hand are clearly just a “Shahs of Sunset” type spoiled Persian expat brat whose idiotic parents and imaginary friends have left you completely dog brained.

I don’t expect KTT to really understand politics in Iran so at this point, I will formally announce I’m done with this section as a whole.

Clearly, I am not welcome to this echo chamber of a section.

You came in this thread, there are threads besides this in the section

All this because I said the demographics of the Iranian diaspora are different than the country's main demographics I meant stuff like there are more Christian Iranians etc outside Iran

Shah and the Ayatollah are ultimately two sides of the same phenomenon.

Iranian Revolution is a prime example of why popular fronts don’t work

The Iranian left united and gave Ayatollah a chance and he eviscerated them and created a theocratic dictatorship with a new clerical bourgeoise.

Even the MLs (Tudeh) who were willing to bend the knee afterwards got liquidated
