im convinced that fr the sense of inter-connectivity that people had before hyper-modernization is just completely a concept lost to time. like w how atomized society is now its so hard to imagine how people can just "know" each other. like even in religious cultures its not uncommon now for people to go to the same church/mosque/synagogue and STILL not know each other. never would have happened 50 years ago

Which is made worse bc you cant date your work colleagues nowadays and talking to strangers in public is frowned upon here. So really a lot of youngsters are stuck to wack dating apps

i think there's still some people in developing countries experiencing it obv but like its pretty sad because even their youth is more apt to want to modernize and integrate to western norms. which is understandable from the economic/material sense ofc but its like bruh you have no idea what youre getting into lol

social atomization w youth is probably the most pressing social issue of our time. its a shame that this discussion has been completely decimated by a mixture of grifters (andrew tate types), rètards (jordan peterson types), hyper-online communities, social opportunists, and people who just refuse to take part in the conversation.
the way the discussion has been contextually framed to seem like "men just complaining they can't get laid" or "why do you care when x is being LITERALLY GENOCIDED" has basically ensured there will never be a good faith discussion of this except by people whoa re already keen to pre-agree with each other. like people can say whatever they want about how this is just some lowkey issue affecting "loser losers" or "toxic masculinity" or something but this s*** is universal and has a higher chance of leading to some violent social tipping point than probably any current direct political trend in the west otherwise

Talked to a girl from Indonesia and even she lamented that her generation can't even meet people anymore like in the old days and are stuck to stupid ass apps. So it applies to the third world too. In China more and more have to resort to apps too, including Western apps which I am surprised are not banned there. Tinder and Bumble make a lot of money there. China has a few cool things that ensure university students interact a lot with each other that we don't have in the West, although I don't know how their socialization is once they enter the workforce.

from like 100 pages ago now i will just say it again: you can always tell when stages of industrialization or modernization are hitting a country by primarily looking at the behavior of women

yeah i ended up following a few random indian university student accounts like people in Indian universities on twitter cause they tend to talk about theory like Edward Said so i found it interesting but they end up b****ing about the same things in the west like dating apps lol

i was thinking more like tribal living people in vietnam or rural people in like khazakstan vs just general third world. but yeah i do agree with you otherwise. arguably asia has it even worse than the US, those mfs have western social issues on steroids like gender relations in china, japan, south korea, etc. are like more exaggerated versions of what exists in the west. so much so when these trends first started popping up in the west mfs were calling it "asian-ification"/"japan-ification"

The thing is that women simply have much easier access to s***(and attention - know many girls who simply go on Tinder after break-ups to get positive male attention) this way, and since a lot of our culture understandably revolves around sex, this seems to offset the negativity of it all. Furthermore, complaining about s***makes you a bad person because "no s***= loser". The fact is that women on online dating apps are not really seen as people, but either as s***objects (by most men) or as bait for more customers (by the dating app developers). Some are keen to partake in this dynamic and don't mind being objectified. Of course the flipside is that the men aren't faithful and will not engage in serious romance with them.

The men on the other hand are also demeaned, have to fight for the attention of like 10% of the userbase that is female, are lead into anxiety loops by the algorithms, are motivated to buy Tinder Gold et cetera, and are pushed to always keep dating, never settle down, never be happy with what they have, always come back to the app and keep the loop going to be a docile customer.

This is all worsened by today's young people being afraid of talking to strangers. If you are socialized in the era of Zoom and apps, you are always bound to the whims of the algorithms and swipe-mechanic tbh

it sounds funny as a cynical quip but theres some truth to it and its not really a misogynistic take. a lotta libs dont want to acknowledge this because it defies their weird contradictory world view of stuff like identities, where they want to act like everyone's different but simultaneously oppression is some arbitrary show of force because everyone and everything is ultimately the same/identical just w a mask on
people are socialized in certain manners according to norms and ideas that exist in culture. the place of women relative to that from both an economic and social stance is obviously different to men and gender relations are ofc largely dialectical. but historically its simply true that the role of women relative to men - in all of its negativities - lead to their treatment relative to industrialization and modernization growing in a proportional capacity. the birth of modern advertising and propaganda in the west for example was literally borne from targeting women. this was ofc not womens' fault, its because of how women were viewed by men, but like people arent only internally socialized, theyre also socialized by how theyre viewed so ofc this made a different in interactions. like does anyone retroactively believe "flappers" in the US was just some organic trend women decided to just randomly do?

The gender wars in South Korea are f***ing insane. Legit violent misogyny and legit violent misandry (yes, also exists there). Much worse than in the USA. It's insane once you get to the details but funnily, South Korean politics barely is known and discussed in the West tbh. China is much better in that regard, Japan is somewhere in between.

you're right it offsets the negativity but im not really just talking about sex. clearly women getting tons of s***arent happy either. one look at social media from even the most well off nepotist fake email laptop job blonde white woman in the bay area who's hooking up regularly will tell you this. the prevalence of the rise of therapy & SSRIs in women who fit this type of demographic - who by traditionally "male" standardst are "succeeding" - will tell you this. the reality is that even men who are regularly hooking up or getting access to s***arent happy except for a period of like when theyre a frat bro in college or something. no dude in his late 30s who is still regularly hooking up is feeling great about life in 99% of cases. ofc modern norms like "sex positivity" and whatnot have created a situation where people think they're happy, but they know there's a disconnect. if this wasn't true the rate of SSRI usage wouldn't be skyrocketing in women, and i don't for a second believe that its just femcels on SSRIs or going to therapy.

i'd say the biggest diff besides the violent/etc social aspects of it is that in japan & sk, gender wars basically inspire actual politics. stuff like the equivalent of losers or the asian versions of valerie solanas are basically actual political demographics parties want to reach

The famous case in South Korea is women who congregate on their forums conspiring to attack young male kindergarten age children so they don't grow up to be rapists, happened a few times
