What do you guys think about the concept of a possible East African Federation? Do you think the DRC and South Sudan should be included?

It's one of the biggest opportunities for the continent to become stable with a major power at the helm. But obv there's a lot of issues/potential problems they need to work against, so I'm surprised it didn't pop up either
How'd it go btw
doing this over Bolsonaro is crazy
They've been gathering at their local military bases begging the military to do a coup ever since the election. Pretty funny when they were doing this in Salvador de Bahia and they started arguing cuz one of them got sent that video of Bolsonaro grocery shopping in Florida
America got real close to the nazi with the Korean + Vietnam wars im a take Lukac side on this

mm thinking about getting Gundrise after Capital now
https://twitter.com/profdavidharvey/status/1612111077679972362Haven’t read either yet heh, I think I’m gonna read Grundrisse first tho - from what I understand it’s the theoretical precursor or literally “floor plan” to Capital’s practical proposals
This is my issue lol I wanna read everything at once but I’m a slow ass reader and have this aversion to reading pdf’s over physical texts. And I’m still in my phase of reading modern anti-imperialist stuff. I’ll get to the real theory s*** eventually
What you guys think about Althusser's stance on a break between
and late Marx? @cloud_rap @PhilipMorris

I think he takes an overly hardline structuralist view on it. I wouldn’t cast aside the Young Marx writings entirely the way he basically does, there is value to them. That being said he’s absolutely correct that those writings are often weaponized by revisionists/rightists to justify a much more liberal interpretation of Marxism, and they are definitely much more Hegelian than Marx’s later writings obviously. I think Althussers correct that in pointing out that thinkers such as Marx aren’t simply Marxists when they come out of their intellectual womb. Every thinker develops and matures their thoughts over time so it would be silly to think that someone’s early writing are necessarily fully compatible with their later works, even if they contain the seeds of their mature thought. This should of course be pretty obvious but many people seem to forget this. You also have to remember that Althusser was writing at a time when the Young/Mature Marx debate was a very hot topic, and the relatively recent release of a lot of those texts had a big impact on how people thought about Marx and were the subject of much debate. I think he offers a useful corrective of “needing to bend the stick too far in the opposite direction” at a time when revisionism - often times largely being justified by the early works - was gaining a lot of steam and needed to be combatted. So while I don’t agree with throwing those works to the side, I do think there is definitely a tendency for people to over focus on these while never even attempting to read works such as Capital, and this leads to a lot of bad tendencies. There’s useful things to be gotten out of those works but Althusser provides some good asterisks and caveats in regards to them that I think we need to take seriously even if we don’t take as rigid of an approach to it as he does
