do you guys agree with term limits for leaders (including socialist ones)?

im aware that people like stalin, mao, and even xi are not dictators who singlehandedly dominate party politics and make all of the decisions

In a vacuum, i don’t think we Need term limits in a democracy. If the people want that leader that badly, then so be it

Given things like corruption and bureaucratic biases and all that, we do need them

There are limits on things like age that definitely need to be taken into account before anything like term limits tho

Is there anything different between the words “supreme leader” and “prime minister” other than the social connotations between each word

term limits are interesting concepts where the operative difference in the positions is based on like almost everything around the actual term limit.

term limits are "undemocratic" in the sense that they are technically limits on what can be the will of the people, but there are also downsides to not having term limits including allowing career turnover so you can have faster mobility in political institutions preventing old stagnant losers from creating entrenched bureaucracy.

its really mostly about the implementation of how mobile you want your political institutions and for what aims you are trying to achieve within them.

realistically you can have "leadership" positions w term limits and have a senile bureacracy and you can have no term limits and have a much higher overall mobility depending on the circumstances and incentives of the system.

If you're Canadian you've probably heard the saying that we're "three mining companies in a trench coat" but nobody seems to know what those three companies actually are

Everybody knows the political influence of Loblaws and the telecom companies like Telus but nobody can name a mining company (including me)
