My thing is, I hate how loosely people use the term socialism.

Like Medicare for all is for some reason seen as a socialist policy in the united states. Is it?

Other countries do it and they certainly aint socialist.

It's because unfortunately people are so dumbed down (whether the ignorance is willful or not) to where terminology doesnt actually matter to them.

It's been an issue since f***in Red Scare and earlier "oh theres a commie in my closet," and they were reporting everyone to the feds because they were in a socialist club in college for 2 meetings or some s***

people need a boogeyman and its f***ing everyone over that we're so easily shaken as a people, or that our foundations were never built up strong enough to hold onto criticial thinking

but yeah I mean i would say theres general things socialism entails while it does require further conversation to flesh out how it actually applies to the convo, and whether its even accurate at all to mention the word itself, which a lot of times its just a red herring buzzword for people

My insurance doesn't cover enough for me to get the right amount of depression meds, with my current income, s\*\*\* sucks. this year been incredibly trash and election day hasn't even happened yet

Part of my house burnt down so I'm living with my grandma now, and the insurance doesn't cover everything, and it's gonna take months to go back because of bureaucracy, and the cops are accusing us of being at fault which is absolutely baseless, plus there's a second wave of the rona going on
