Elaborate because i dont really agree
Ubi would replace a lot of existing infrastructure, and mean we can get rid of expensive means testing bureaucracy
Plus people with money tend to make calmer choices, better fed, less stressed and less likely to fall further
The theory and practice of social democracy and liberalism was proven wrong by CHAZ?
What the f***kkkk
Didn’t they already try this experiment with CHAZ and it failed miserably ?
Social democracy is pretty much standard around lots of left wing parties in Europe
FDR was most popular president of all time and he was socdem i guess
Lots of the older Australian labor party candidates I guess were socdem and they added some most important policies to Australia

I think you're lost. The communal living thread is here: ktt2.com/my-theory-on-communal-living-92821
why does the national debt matter
Because you devalue the f*** out of the dollar if you think you can just print money and give it away. You’ll actually see this in real time soon enough

Sure lol
I think Canada, UK(pre brexit atleast) and California are the biggest social liberal governments/economic systems (super into social justice, feminism, loves immigration, economic incentives for families and higher minimum wages etc)
I gotta say as a canadian living under this system it leaves a lot to be desired, here we hv justin trudeau who’s like the biggest world leader that embraces this ideology. The guy legalized weed, increased Canada immigration intake to 300k/yr(unheard of numbers on a per capita basis) etc and those are all good but the things with liberals like him or their equivalents in the states, the kamala harris’s and cory bookers, is that they still face pressure from the soc dem left on the core economic issues. Ill give u that they are more open to input from the soc dems than (here in Canada our liberals and soc dems are basically in a parliamentary coalition always) center rightists like biden or whatever but they still have sore spots policy wise. Their more laissez fair attitude like u mentioned on regulations always leads to the sort of crony, cocktail liberal corruption and s***. Anyway it’s an interesting dynamic. While I prefer them to center rightists or full conservatives the ideology still isn’t perfect
Also based on yr description ubi isn’t something that belongs to this ideology
UBI is more a social democrat idea

Social liberalism is trash
It alienates working class people

No social liberalism cool
They're both good ideologies altho it is the less popular one, in the uk social liberals designed the NHS

uk labour was never social liberalism until blair government come in
guy which introduced it was a socialist (not saying medicare is socialist policy through)

nah, the actual blueprint for the nhs was planned out by a liberal
social liberalism tends to not be as popular with working class people but it's an ally

Basically what i was tryna say lol
It’s tolerable but dsnt fix a lot of underlying issues
It also feels annoying bcus it creates a facade of progress. Like trudeau is definitely progressive in areas but our socdems hv to push him on A LOT

a***ysis always need to make sure it is an ally though, as in all people who say they're for something
