Because the demographic that listens to country could care less about him saying it.
If he was a rap artist or something he probably would have face some sort of reprocussions.
His fans are white people who say and don't care about each other saying nigga
It's quite simple
He a white country singer
Nobody gets cancelled. But his career did take a hit that year as they removed him from festivals and the Grammys that year. A big reason why he ain't get cancelled or was able to come back from it is because he went on an apology tour and got "racism therapy" or whatever it's called. Basically made the effort to show he was remorseful about the video.
I mean I don't give a damn about some white country singer, I wasn't listening to him before and nothing has changed that. But in the eyes of the public, he did the work to change, and that was enough. It's amazing the way you can save your career when you just shut the f*** up and apologize for some s*** instead of doubling or tripling down on it, crying about "cancel culture" and how you're being treated unfairly for being held accountable for your wrongdoings....Who knew?
If every country artist got cancelled for saying the N word, there'd be no country music industry lmao. I've always assumed most of Nashville are racist anyways.
this can be said about a lot of things people "get cancelled" for in general, but i think a decent amount of people do care about a white guy saying the n word with a hard r lmao. not saying they're upset or gonna fight him about it, but i think at least a chunk of america disapproves of that (vs something a lot more subtle or microagression-y)
clearly that isn't the case
word to bieber & post
Because it just made him more relatable. Tons of white boys who excessively use the N word but aren’t inherently racist; just cringe.
