I'm talking about what becomes of luxury vehicles? High fashion? 5 star resorts, first class flights, michelin star restaurants?

I've done some research on what happens to luxury in a socialist society and I usually get the same answer.

The answer I usually get is something about luxury goods being the manifestation of capitalism and they aren't needed in a socialist world. That doesn't change the fact that me and billions of other people want them

Like how do we decide who lives in the 4000 sq ft 5 bedroom house and who lives in the 750 sq ft 1 bedroom apartment?

that's because most countries that have implemented the ideas of socialism have been poor or pre-industrialized countries so naturally they wouldn't have incredible wealth because they didn't have any to begin with.

and there would still be levels of income inequality the main focus is that people get to earn proportionate to the profit they make and that none of that money gets siphoned off into the hands of people who aren't doing any of the work.

people are s***ting on you but I don't see anybody trying to explain nothin to you so hope this helps

yeah but the average persons SOL would go up, so the average person should be a socialist right

you could also argue focusing on SOL rather than profit will create technologies and innovations that help society across the board

like imagine if we focused on curing cancer rather than making the iPad Pro Mini 12 or whatever

Are you talking about socialism globally or just in usa?

to me there are a lot of things that confuse me about your post

but my biggest confusion is that you seem to have a really shallow view of human beings NGL

like dont you think we should strive to become more intelligent and creative, unlock the secrets of the universe and all that

rather than focusing on whether we live in a regular house or a mansion

to me if my core needs are all guaranteed and I can take a vacation once in a while, etc. I'm happy as long as I can focus on elevating our civilization

so you have no personal goals for what you want to buy?

They should be used interchangeably. Socialism is just the lower stage. If you're a socialist who says they aren't a communist, you are just confused.

I guess this would sum up why I'm not a socialist.

Where has communism ever worked? I'm very open to looking stupid, if you have some great examples.

What was so great about the USSR?

I will say that it's worth considering how due to the cold war/nuclear arms race, USSR eventually became unable to sustain itself, however the U.S. was not fighting that fight because of the Authoritarian aspect of certain leaders in Russian history but more so the alternate economic model that was found so threatening to the profits but also increasing wealth inequality of capitalism (socialism, communism)

USSR still made a lot of tech and other achievements/advancements in that time (a lot of space s***)... but the US after it had become a superpower post WWII eventually got the upper hand,

Now we got russian interference in our elections, its a two way street

Fair but the entire Cold War the US was focused on having leverage on the USSR including the nuclear arms race and related matters, which was significant to its downfall to say the very least.

Anti-communist rhetoric to the point of absolute propaganda and illusions that pervade American and western thought to this day were no small part of how it all happened

I don't know enough about communism to intelligently reply, you're just always acting like if you're not a socialist you're a moron so I'm asking you what's so great about communism.

I am aware that the US and the CIA has helped to overthrow plenty of governments, maybe some of those could have gone on to be great communist governments.

Just doing a little bit of research here:

    rbth.com/lifestyle/331399-best-thing-ussr

Doesn't really sound all that great to me. So everyone gets a state decided job, state decided car, state decided house, and if you work really, really hard you might be able to create a bit of your own destiny? "everyone could afford bad clothes and bad food." Now this is just one website but if the USSR is the greatest example of communism working, I'll take my chances with capitalism.

I do think there's a lot to learn from socialist ideas, aspects that will naturally become ingrained into American life in our lifetimes like medicare for all and much cheaper/potentially free college just make sense. There's plenty of evils that capitalism has helped fuel, but at least it allows people to create their own path.

Kanye would never exist in soviet russia
