Update: took cat to vet, they said he is a boy, and has ringworm, hookworm, fleas (I knew that), an upper respiratory infection and I think an eye infection.
I’m paying however much it costs to make this cat well again.

Buying the actual cat is like the least expensive part about a cat
I have to consider feeding, medicine/treatment, litter, toys, treats….and I have very limited space in my apartment already.
I’m going to try to keep it but I’m unsure if my other cat will accept the kitten in the house.
It’s just not as simple as “I have a cat now” but I get what you mean.
It’s always weird how I have a situation and someone makes a thread for it days later lol. I just moved in this house I’m in about 2 months ago and a stray took a liking to us sleeping on our porch. My boy is an indoor cat so they look at each other through the screen door often. My folks been feeding the stray so he comes every day now. He got inside the house once and was pretty chill with my cat. But from the advice of multiple of my vet friends I was told unless I know that cat has his shots not to pet him or have him near my cat as he can still get me or my cat sick.

Lmaooo those vet bills ops talking about will cost more than adopting a cat
Plus the price of adoption is usually just the price of the neutering/spaying surgery, which op would still probably have to pay for if that’s a route op plans to pursue
Overall probably pricier than just adopting a cat

i mean like i think most cats like having another cat around you just have to get them used to it
i remember hearing that's like good for them and they can even get depressed if they don't have another one around sometimes

Not true for all cats unfortunately :(((
It’s about how they were socialized as kittens mostly
Cats that weren’t socialized w humans often have a hard time being a pet as they’re “feral”
Cats not socialized w other cats won’t rly want to spend time w other cats
Esp bc cats are incredibly territorial, male ones particularly, and will instinctually want to defend their territory from other intruder cats
