Kendrick only got the beat with the hook and wrote 2 verses and decided to not use it so they kept one of his verses and then Rocky and Drake added their own verses
We literally have the full Kendrick version that was intended for GKMC

It feels like you're disagreeing with me but I can't tell how it's any different from what I said?

I remember reading the producer’s ig post talking bout how he made the beat when he was depressed and friends would call him up to go out and have fun or whatever

I assumed he was just talking bout the sample at the beginning

but yeah this is how studio sessions work sorry to burst yall bubble but mad producers present their beats with hooks or catchy vocal elements these days

kendrick YAH main melody came from the producer doing a mumble freestyle that leaked and u can go listen to right now if u want lol

Oh okay so the same thing Drake did with Nokia then. Cool

Show me the lyrics that 2Chainz and Drake wrote and Kendrick then decided to remove their vocals and say those lyrics instead with the same cadence they came up with

If he not even credited as a writer that’s wild tbh

Only reason this should be an issue

Lot of producers give ideas for the vision of their beat or collab on a theme for their beat with the main artist theyre trying to pitch too lol

As long as he didn't get cheated out, this is normal

Just to be clear, you're talking about the single adlib of "Who's calling that s***?" That's what this is all about?

  • Apr 6, 2025

Okay, Drake wouldn't have gotten the idea without the producer's contributions. But his contributions and as a result, his name, wouldn't be as known right now if Drake didn't use them. Both of them benefitted

Pretty much no artist's output is done completely by themselves without any assistance. Idk what the expectation is here? He's credited as a producer and providing additional vocals

Look, Elkan's parts of the songs are catchy as f*** but the song is what it is BECAUSE of Drake. It's that simple.

Drake wrote two whole verses and added a response part to Elkan's second hook on the song to make it the wholesome experience it is.

Why does it matter that he didn't come up with the original idea? He took the idea, elevated it and added more to it and we have one of his best hits and one of the best hits of the year as a result of that.

Should we have a discussion of just how many songs/features Drake has done and gifted other artists? Like, what are we doing here, man?

F***in' Problems was a finished product when it got to Rocky. All he had to do was add his verse and that's it. I could go on and on lmao. And that's a song Drake produced, structured the hook to and wrote a verse to before handing it off to Rocky. Who cares about any of that today?

That jawn would be sitting around getting dusty or given to some local Toronto artist that couldn’t sauce it up tbh

Without even getting into a whole thing about the validity of him doing this given his history

Why would he do this right now lmfao. Then the Kendrick s*** in this video of all videos. Y’all “enable” (he probably never read y’all comments) the dumbest s*** lmao its ok to say bro made a dumb decision

    Pride is another example

Chorus / Intro is Steve Lacey, Anna Wise and someone else

But none are credited as features

    But this is normal

J Cole has so many examples of this too, as do most rappers

Many songs start as a producer/writer hook that the main artist takes and reworks, and any vocals that stay may sometimes not get "feature" credit

This thread just exposes how pathetic Kendrick fans have become lmao. They're truly miserable that Drake has a hit on his hands.

And just to note, none of us knows how the original idea of any song ever comes into play. We aren't in the studio with these artists when they cook. Some producers are creative enough to offer suggestions to artists on what flows to use on their beats, some help out with hook ideas, some write and perform entire hooks, some just make the beats and keep it moving.

The whole point is that at the end of the day, the audience gets a great song out of it and that's what we got with Nokia so f*** anyone trying to b**** about a non-issue. I'm out ✌️

    Drake doesn’t know you exist.

Why bend backwards for him so hard?

Never understood this obsession like yours.
