dunno if it even was a show with tickets tbh
nah fr probably my favorite thing about screw’s mixes were how he played with the track’s pitch and how low-fi or crunchy the audio would sound. i guess the effect was lost when his successors (swishahouse, chopstars, noir ect) started digitally processing their mixes. sgp’s chopped by purrp/purrpped & chopped/veneno tapes and siifu’s have been the only ones i know of who brought that back im grateful af i might have to tell him on twitter lol
Have you heard Delroy Edwards 3 volume slowed down funk tapes?

yes!! him too i forgot about him. man u bringing memories back i haven’t spun them s***s since 2017-8 imma have to revisit. it seems to me like the chopped and screwed game is kinda dying and giving way to the flurry of slowed n reverb “mixes” that have taken the internet by storm for the past two years or so and ion like it i might make a thread about it here but idk if anyone will care to engage like that lol

I'd be up for it. I been listening to Screw a lot lately. Overall the scene seems quite dead and filled with trash, although I like what Rabit is doing with the sound rn. He’s very good at selecting tracks and creating an atmosphere. It feels like an updated take and extension of the sound in an authentic way.
Crazy thing is Screw's influence has grown so much not only in hip hop but other genres like the birth of vaporwave and underground electronic artists like Andy Stott, Actress, Daniel Lopatin ect.
When I first heard some of the tracks on weight of the world I immediately thought of Chapter 214: Old School and saw people saying it sounded like vaporwave, which I thought was interesting cause Screw certainly predated that sound.

yeah the old heads (at this point) dont seem to be progressing anymore, with the best out of them being slim k and while i still appreciate him and og ron c/candlestick's mixes, it doesnt seem like theres anyone new who's mixing at their level or pushing the genre further.
the only glimmer of hope i've seen is 6krime because they actually are mixing up-n-comer's music with a few traditional screw effects and iv'e never heard anyone make the the chops "glitch" as spastically as they make their's. but even then i can't even put my full confidence in them because they only mix individual tracks/haven't put out full tapes.

but u got any mix recommendations from rabit? and yeah it's interesting to see his influence across different genres .
