you cant imagine how much I appreciate the slums/diary rap wave. they make me feel sooooo young while none of them are that much older than me. idk its always been a huge deal to me like the fact that earl is 1 year older than me yet all the guys round him are in that 94-96 birth year range and it makes me feel super young without feeling old.
idk how to even explain it but a lot of these guys music sounds so rejuvenating and not infantile, like they're figuring this s*** out at the same pace as I do and life comes at them same way, you know? its a very unique feeling to me as someone who only caught a tiny part of mid 10s underground in Ratking, Beast Coast and them
pink siifu's slwdwn tapes are some of the best tapes ive heard since screw himself
Fantano’s WOTW review
wow instantly knew that he'd just be ignorant af and I was right
at least cool to see how heavy the backlash is though, comments don't roll with it one bit and he got more dislikes then likes
Fantano backlash might honestly be a good thing in the long run, with more people educated about the fact that Mike has heavily influenced Earl just like he has heavily influenced him and that they continue to inspire each other a lot
the "yt ppl need to stop reviewing black music" chants on twitter are not it either, but Fantano def deserves this. Dude been trash for a minute now

I don’t understand why he would bother with the review if it’s an artist who’s that underground. it shows how much Fantano is really out for himself. he basically tried to sacrifice someone’s career for ad money. the smart thing to do if he didn’t like the album is to not review it at all.

I mean he did quite literally make a career out of finding underground stuff which could find a larger audience, and at this point Mike isn't a very risky pick anymore, at all. Slums is starting to get a lot more and more serious attention and a very strong cult following (deservedly so)
And tbf just by reviewing, with 2mil subscribers, no matter the score he's giving him a big platform and attention. And especially now with the backlash it's not even a bad kind of attention. Honestly it's overall predominantly a good thing for Mike's career prolly
(personally agree with you though, I also rarely ever rate or review music I don't like, but it's a debatable thing whether bad reviews are a helpful practice or not. When the platform is huge tho, usually all press is good press)

I understand that Fantano helped out underground artists before like Woods and JPEGMAFIA, and I can also see why MIKE would benefit from this. what I can’t see is why Fantano made this decision in the first place. that’s all I’m saying
Cold Water is the best sLUms release this year.
That's it, that's the post.
WOTW
WOTW
Though the lyrics were strong, WOTW is definitely my least favorite produced MIKE project.
Cold Water's lyrics, transitions, flow, production, features are all top tier

Didn't see the backlash but this is probably the worst take I've seen from Anthony. He's not into most of what's going on in underground rap; whether it be the sLUms, Roc, Griselda, or Mach.
It is what it is.

why isnt DOLOMEALS on Cold Water???
he had hella fire loosies between projects, also tracks with Navy, Mavi on soundcloud..

interesting, that one didn't have strong staying power for me tbh and I ended up thinking Own Pace was better. Need to revisit tho
In terms of projects Mike is rly taking the lead again this year imo
why isnt DOLOMEALS on Cold Water???
Bruh spazzed on that, one of my favorite performances from him
Allegedly been on repeat too, Im kinda tight it isn’t on Cold Water
