What’s the best project from these guys, I’ve heard some mike and some navy blue and both were okay but I’m not sure if I just don’t f*** with this style. I listen to a fair amount of underground rap, but more so the street side of underground rap. Not trolling, I wanna hear something that’ll make me a fan and get me interested. What’s considered their top 3 projects?

I’d suggest checking our Mavi- Let the Sun Talk, and MIKE - Tears of Joy, and maybe Slauson Malone - A Quiet Farewell.

try Poorboy by Medslaus (Medhane+Slauson) if you like psychedelic s*** with an experimental edge, or Slauson's Quite Farwell if you want all out there experimental

Mavi Let the Sun Talk for the most impressive rapping

And Mike is as good as ever this year with the Old Earth EP and Weight of the World imo, basically all his albums since MGBYH are amazing tho

This collective is made up of a bunch of regular inner city niggas; No trappers over here.

I would say if MIKE, Navy Blue, or the new Earl don't impress you, I'm not sure who else will in the sLUms. Camden Malik sounds different out the group

You f*** with these guys heavy? You seem to be into a lot of the same stuff as me. I know earl is associated with these guys, but their music does sound very similar, at least mike does. I haven’t f***ed with earl that heavy since IDLSIDO, not that I’m into the more experimental side of underground tbh. I’ll invest some time before I make judgment but not sure if this movement is for me

See I heard that before and that’s the only album I’ve heard all the way though and honestly that’s what put me off checking him out further, it wasn’t really for me

Yeah for the most part. I mostly just mess w MIKE, Mavi, Navy, SOTC, and Earl, but I‘m happy to see this movement thriving.

Yeah their music can seem a bit one-dimensional—I could easily see someone not being impressed by slums, but they have some heavy hitters that are just always interesting to me. Have you checked out Ada Irin by Navy Blue? Ka is featured on it, and I think you’d appreciate the sound of the album.

atm thinking Weight of the World might genuinely be his best yet, and I'm listening to Old Earth a ton atm too. Plus this old earth bonus is probably my most listened track of the year period

for a long time it was War In My Pen for me and May God Bless Your Hustle is starting to compete too (only drawback is that I listen to the first half wayy more than the second). Very hard to decide between these three, all have different charms and qualities.

I also have my own personal regularly updated attempt at a ranking of all slums projects in the rym list in op btw

Yeah that was the album I listened to that kinda made me wanna check for them again, I’ve only been through it once (and mainly because I saw ka was on it) but it was pretty nice so I thought I’d give them another go
