This was a really good listen
Med cool wit slums again?
Navy has said on record he's not part of sLUms bro lmfao.
that's part of why the title of thread was changed.

confusing to see Navy Craven and so many in the scene collab with him again. Still don't feel that great about listening to any Med at all atm as long as he seems to just sweep the whole controversy under the rug

I feel like other than mavi (and only cause he be blatant in his raps about it), majority of the scene ain't really all that progressive like that lol.

and MIKE at least in terms of feminism.
But yea even though Wiki, Navy and even Med got some feminist lines etc which is cool, other lines and actions don't really reflect that as a fully fledged standing lol.
But Mavi also got a confusing mix of calling out capitalism but still acting very capitalist, MIKE also increasingly so (tho tbf he was never that critical of capitalism to begin with).
In terms of general political convictions I think Slauson and Gio are the most serious and reflected about it.

Difference between wanting secure income and him saying in interviews he wants to be a big star and make a lot of money, going on tour with Jack Harlow.. I dunno on one hand I can't blame him and think he deserves a big career, but still even though he says Noname is his favorite rapper it doesn't seem like he reads her tweets
I mostly just find disappointing that he doesn't even address the contradictions there
Christ, between this and the obsession with wanting to label music and rym, this has been a week of some of the most vapid, faux-intelligent discussions I've read in this thread.
I must have missed the memo where people's lyrics translate to their feminist standing. Or where scrolling through their tweets meant you know their actions intimately enough to critique them.
Don't even get me started on the part where being progressive suddenly means holding somebody guilty for an allegation we have no confirmation as to the validity of. And then expecting them to address it time and again so you feel comfortable enough to play their songs.

who said we were intelligent though?

!!!!!
I think understanding that capitalism isn't going to be challenged anytime soon in a material way in America makes people with the opportunity to gain wealth through their art take those opportunities
I don't blame, Mavi. It's not like he's gonna get super rich off of this. I don't see his level of fame being bigger than the likes of a Danny Brown or Noname anytime soon.
As one of the biggest communists on the site, socialism does not equate an oath of poverty. Whether or not some underground rapper wants to become more popular or not has zero bearing on any systemic issues. Let that boy eat his cake for now.
