this is nice, very pleasant listen
Just came in the mail 🙌

You could nitpick that the print could just be that tiny bit more sharp when you inspect it closely but it looks rly good. Also probably the thickest cardboard in my collection lol
Edit: sounds rly good as well, love having my fav albums on vinyl to slow them down a bit. Still the best album of 2019
I hate that it took til Fantano started suckin d*** for people to start listening to and hyping up GUMBO'!
Like yeah it's good for Siifu and it's just nice that people are paying attention to a great body of work. But I'm just tired of underground rappers having to go to that f***in dork if they wanna get more looks smh
I hope one day Black artists will be more willing to go to Black content creators and blogs to get their music out there to a larger audience instead of having to tap dance to white dorks on the internet to gain the white audience.
Cause the day I go to a Pink Siifu concert and see a white dude wearing a kufi at the show talmbout some "Don't be scuuuurd"...

Honestly Fantano just hopped on the wave after the NYT article and Sonemic interview (he's blatantly copying from rym all the time)
I'm not mad this is easily his most accessible and fun album yet it's cool he's reaching so many ears with it. Mostly annoyed by Fantano these days as well but he is slowly coming around to this scene (better late than never) and that means real revenue for independent artists like this

Yeah I see this 100% tho

When it comes to Fantano, there's just always gonna be his ego where he feels like he is owed s***. Almost similar to how Akademiks views himself and how he "made" some artists. And whether Fantano wants to admit to that kinda ego himself, he's definitely going to feel like he put on artists and they owe him s*** down the road. S***, that's part of the reason why he had that weird issue with Mavi last year and why he been acting like a b**** when it comes to reviewing or talking about his music.

I agree with this sentiment but I aint even know he f***ed with bro (only interaction I remember fantano having with anyone in that collective was the "just kill me now if I'm missing the point" meme that niggas reposted cause he didn't like one of they albums) I havent watched a fantano review in months lol.
I havent listened to new albums this year (with ye/drake being the exception) as soon as they came out intentionally. So they can hit when I want em to hit.
I listened to both him and Yebba's new joint yesterday. I'ma listen to LNX today.

But it goes both ways right?
Black content creators and bloggers need to make themselves available to these types of black artists. Black platforms like Akademiks and Shade Room (which I finally see the tide shifting on that platform, people are calling out how they never reported that brotha was missing but as soon as his body was found they posted that info asap.)
In a perfect world @YoungNastyShawty should be up up there over these problematic black voices that only care about one type of black artist. Props to him and his interviews with MIKE and Navy Blue, simply cause I didn't even think those people even did interviews like that.
Also props to lastnamedavid (loved his beat tape) for his small tlk series. Him and Pink Siifu had a nice vid.

(it's 2 hrs but worth the time tbh)

Chimezie also got very solid reaction/review content, basically dedicated his channel to this scene. Only reaction channel apart from Bigquint I ever cared for tbh

What happened between Fantano and Mavi?
What happened between Fantano and Mavi?
iirc when fantano reviewed weight of the world and gave it a 4/10 he got critiqued by mavi, jay versace and a few other people for his look on black art, that he doesnt get it and should just stop reviewing it
fantano was f***ing melting and posted this legendary cringe reply

and i remember his feet of clay review where he trashed mavis verse and said it sounds like "just an angrier version of earl" so it's redudant having him on the track implying he's a total copycat
which is one of the worst takes i've ever heard
Navy is so f***ing amazing bro. Like his music has helped me so much mentally. He's becomming one of my top 10 favorite artists ever tbh. I've been diving into the discogs of the rest of the slums crew and all of this music is so therapeutic, raw & poetic. I f***ing love it
was I the only person who saw siifu kinda hating on fantano before the interview? I believe he reposted someone trashing him and then made some replies or liked some tweets idr

You probably did cause he was riding with his homies who also didn't f*** with Fantano lol
Im a longtime fantano fan even tho I dont care for him as much these days. I feel like hes long overdue for a break and it seems like he's always this close to a meltdown, not to be too parasocial.
it seems like his intentions get misinterpreted way too often but I guess thats what you get for being a mainstream-level influencer. him not getting mike and only now turning to Griselda/post-slums acts is still surprising to me; I guess he was more in tune with it back in the art rap days, putting on milo and giving props to busdriver, ome, etc.

That also plays a part in this. Artists gotta pick a side and STAY there when it comes to reviewers cause everyone always hates on reviewers until they give them a good review.
And that s*** (while human) is so f***ing fake to me.
Like for example, Kanye hates them niggas regardless of whether or not they f*** with his s*** or not. I respect the same energy being kept.
