Yeah that would be tight. A Siifu feature on a Kendrick album would make a lot of sense tbh. They basically got a link already through Earl too so it's not all that far-fetched

The more tangible link is Lance Skiiwalker. Also Anna Wise. Definitely potential connections.

Damn now that I know who 454 is it's wild he had placements on that last ZelooperZ tape. Still haven't heard the second half I think damn. Def happy this one seems to finally be reaching more people and getting a lot of positive response

Apparently Jack Harlow really f***s with Mavi. Random as hell but he's bringing him on tour. Gonna be a strange clash of fanbases

My lil brother showed me a track once and I wasn't f***ing with that at all, looked super corny. Mavi selling out?

Yeah it's great Danny finally managed to really make it a label and give them a podium, great move. I liked the Bruiser Wolf tape, overall care for Zelooperz most of all though.

And you always have to look out for Danny, hope he drops this year

Earl used to criticize Kendrick for spoon-feeding messages lol but after IDLS Kendrick said Earl is his favorite rapper when he was asked on twitter. After that he was still giving somewhat backhanded praise but saying he appreciated Kendrick.

Danny and Kendrick are good friends I think and they all linked up on Really Doe of course, and according to Danny everyone agreed Earl had the best verse on there. Earl was giving sincere praise to DAMN when that came out (tweeting about YAH).

Also Earl is friends with Zelooperz and Black Not$e is a close friend and his tour dj, so through that he got a pretty good link to Bruiser/ Danny nowadays. So what their actual relationship looks like who knows but if Siifu asked Earl he could definitely link them up easily

I wonder what he means by spoon feeding messages? Is his problem that Kendrick is straight forward because I don’t really get that vibe from tpab most of his messages is backed by a conceptual narrative while also giving you a surface level idea for an entry point

One of those artists were you expect a new level or at least different lane with each album tbh, he's yet to disappoint

I know what he means but personally never found the spoon-feeding critique a very good value-judgement tbh. I mean I was a white privileged kid growing up in Germany and he still managed to make gkmc so universally understandable that that was like one of the most relatable albums of my teens. The language isn't that cryptic, and a lot of the time the message is spelled out directly (think the poem and various parts of TPAB). He tells you a very specific story but also makes very obvious what's universal about it. Imo there's a lot of artistry in that (and that's just the lyrics too, the way they're delivered and the sound of it all is at least as important)

Earl obviously is much more in a literary poet mindset where he's often very ambiguous or straight up cryptic, sometimes very stream-of-consciousness, rarely ever is there a linear story.

Yeeaa I guess there’s different ways to approach it I understand him wanting to get his message out through coded language but he has to understand a lot us don’t have the same literary background as him and connect more through soulful and emotionally potent songwriting. not saying Earl doesn’t do that well I think he did it best on SRS but just because you aren’t cryptic and convoluted with the way you try to convey a message doesn’t make you a lesser lyricist

yeah 100%, this sort of approach always risks slipping into sort of elitism or l'art pour l'art pretentiousness. I def think with Earl it works because even when the words are not easily decipherable the emotion is always clear, honestly in that way sort of like Lynch now that I'm thinking about it

I think Earl is way better writer than Kendrick personally.

Obviously, their styles are different, but Earl's use of language means so much more to me than the pyrotechnics Kendrick displays.

Only similarities is that they’re both from LA, that’s about it. Two completely different artists

yea Earl actually grew up fairly privileged too for a Black kid. In that recent Navy interview they revealed they've been going to the same private elementary school. I dunno how common it is in the US but going to a private elementary is lowkey unheard of over here
