I’d say he’s the best overall artist, but his discog doesn’t hold up to the likes of mike or navy

I think ensley and negro deluxe better than ada irin and songs of sage, haven’t heard the newest project. Mikes discog consistent and strong tho forsure, siifu got too many collab tapes which is cool but on his solo records you really get a taste of how versatile and talented he is

Honestly I need one more solo tape from him to decide how I feel about him. I respect him doing something new on negro but I’m not into the noise s***. Negro deluxe decent tho

Wish he would’ve made deluxe it’s own project it’s mostly hip hop with some punk and industrial sprinkled in, it’s so crazy how cohesive it is even with all of the drastic shifts in sound.

what I find kinda wild is that both u and @DwindlingSun love Tears of Joy this much but find WOTW too sleepy, imo TOJ is way more sleepy and less focused tbh

Well to clarify on my end at least, I don't believe I've ever said I find WOTW too sleepy. I'm perfectly fine with sleepy.

Plus, just cause TOJ is my favourite MIKE doesn't mean I don't really enjoy WOTW. I do, I still rate it very highly in his discography.

I'm an easy audience. Give me something experimental and 9 times out of 10 I'm gonna like that the best. TOJ to me is MIKE at his most experimental. Both in terms of album structure and palette of sounds.

It just has so many huge highs to me. Summer 17 is one of my very favourite MIKE tracks oat. That beat is especially nuts. Its Like Basketball similarly. Suffocate and True Blood is an amazing 1-2 punch at the backend. Scarred Lungs sets a really powerful tone for the album. Just a lot of really special tracks throughout which gives it the edge for me.

Also I personally would not call it less focused. While on WOTW there's tracks like Get Rich Quick Scheme and Iz U Stupid which feel out of place to me and disruptive to the flow.

Sat with True Sky long enough now, my verdict:

Eleventh Wind is still my favourite Akai album. Largely due to the pacing and brevity. Would put Black Sand above this too in terms of Akai's one-producer albums.

Navy's beats here are just too static. And with no features/beat switches/interludes it can get a bit exhausting. Especially because of Akai's style.

Very confident that woods is gonna get the best out of him. Needs a properly well constructed and sequenced album.

Much like RAFT and Mad Space, it's a mixed bag of an album. Red Waves - Deadass - No Doubt was an unenjoyable run. While, Ocean Hue Hours - Heavy Sigh are two of the best tracks he's ever made, incredible back-to-back.
