Yo why tf did I sleep on ensley
“tht bag” and “decisions ova jerk chicken”
Who was sampled on III by Mavi anybody ever take the time to find out what film the voice is from sounds very interesting
II is a Breaking Bad sample I think, III got like 7 samples and I have no idea where those came from sadly

Good question
big one for this scene tbh, a first big coming together for what ended up many of the MVPs of it, both producers and rappers. Rly helped connecting the different scenes of NY, LA and all over the place tbh
Also still feels like his most personal s*** to me, and I love how all over the place but still mostly cohesive the sound is. Great album
They play that avalanches song with the siifu ft at the gym. Was sick to hear his voice in a public setting like that
Yo wait Black Noi$e is realest photographer ever?
this looks cool
man I can't believe I didn't put 2+2 together sooner, makes a lot of sense how the Easter Sunday vid came together now

Plus I always thought the Revenge of the Dreamers beat sounds like Black Noi$e, I guess this confirms it.
His editing style is really sick (also did East), he's really an all-around amazing artist damn. And it's sick how through his linking up with Earl as his DJ this whole Detroit scene got connected to the community around Earl. He's just shot a lot of videos for other Bruiser Brigade artists too.
His connection with Zelooperz in particular feels special tho, hope they'll drop another album together this year, Earl and others would prolly show up on that too.

that Burd project didn't really do it for me tbh but I might have to give it another shot
New Cities Aviv feels very indebted to MIKE, seriously good though. Like I never actually enjoyed a whole album by the dude until now EDIT: one thing he should've copied too is conciseness though, it's way too long unfortunately even though there haven't been any duds so far

kinda crazy bc its one of my favorite albums from 19. the way wilma archer blended some great instrumentation with vritra's 'ethereal' rapping worked like a charm on me

!https://youtu.be/F-TtMppYlM0He's been on this wavelength a while now. Dont think its fair to say very indebted. He's an original himself. And yeah he's been big on the long albums lately. More mood pieces honestly, I dig it, ambient sections, repetative loops and minimal lyrics.
Him and Navy actually have a track together from years ago, although unfortunately it seems to have been scrubbed.

I mean yeah he's actually been doing this hypnagogic thing for a while now and just has generally been doing a lot of wildly experimental music (with some amazing hits but also many misses imo), but the way the samples are chopped on the new album and some of his delivery... makes it hard for me to think he hasn't been listening to a lot of MIKE recently (and who could blame him, he's one of the best out rn).
The fact he's even linked up with Navy makes it hard for me to believe he isn't aware of MIKE. That's rly cool tho I wish I could still listen to that
also not saying he's not being original even though I think he's taking from an original, btw

his earlier stuff was quite reminiscent of mc ride in delivery. ive not heard the new album but someone mentioned the mike similarities to me not too long ago. ive been following him for a while and im actually glad hes still making music bc it seems like hell never blow up. if there is still something that gets him going then im all for it. I remember some of his more electronic stuff from like '18 which was great too. i dont really have a point here its just that ive not seen a cities aviv discussion in like a few years so thats kinda cool lol

lmao a homie sent me an old track by him a couple months ago and I was like "wow, Cities Aviv, that name sounds like 2012 to me" lol. I was rly surprised to see a new album by him actually getting hype on rym
Also yeah his delivery at one point was extremely MC Ride-ish, to a point where I found it a bit off-putting tbh. The way I'm hearing MIKE on the new one is much more subtle
obsessed with this beat rn
WOTW continues to age like fine wine
there's more gifts than there's curses and s***...

Duendita's new single. Stunning as usual
