Yeah it was a nice introduction to him I think
A bit too subdued for me at times tho, same thing I don't love about MIKE occasionally
But I do love his beat choice
this is actually the first time he's produced himself
I still think his debut EP half-life entirely produced by King Krule and especially his EP with MIKE are his best work (and the latter some of MIKE's best production as well), but he's been consistently dropping fire the past year
Gonna finally spin this Folder 1 by Jada
that first song got such a nice loop. u should peep rago foot album too

his first album on bandcamp got two krule beats on there and a jadasea collab should be right up your alley if you fw jadasea
Mavi is so well-spoken
That interview was dope
End of the Earth still in rotation

After that interview I’m intrigued to run back that and LTST. Think I needed that extra perspective on him as an artist

make sure to listen to the bandcamp version of Old Earth. The youtube version got some sick editing visuals but the mixing is off at parts

Also this non-album single is a classic too

Folder 1 is self produced?
Completely agreed regarding Half Life and Old Earth being his peaks (and agree some of MIKE's best production).

never even knew of that project, just pressed play.
I love so much how that link with sLUms revitalized the whole Sub Luna City crew. I used to listen to all those old Edgar and DJ JD Sports tapes back in 2013 and honestly never thought that Jadasea kid would come back 6 years later killing it in the underground. If you'd told me this would happen because of a crew close to Earl Sweatshirt back then I wouldn't have believed you

yea Earl was living with Archy for a while, sadly the only thing we got from those sessions is Death Whistles (still cool tho)

And yea Frank was in London for a while and he visited Archy too but nothing came off it sadly
Back in 2013, rumors circulated that a collaboration between King Krule (aka Archy Marshall) and Frank Ocean could be in the cards, after Frank floated the idea in an interview with BBC Radio 1. Marshall has now revealed that Frank visited him in London and they discussed working together. “Frank was at my house, yeah,” Marshall tells Pitchfork in a forthcoming interview. “His work rate’s crazy; he creates album after album. I don’t know what goes through his head. He’s a different kind of cat. He came down and he wanted me to do something for his record, but I don’t think he liked it.”
Marshall also confirmed rumors he produced Earl Sweatshirt’s “Death Whistles” under his Edgar the Beatmaker alias. “Earl lived in my house in London for four weeks,” Marshall says. When they made “Death Whistles,” he adds, “It was probably like 5 in the morning. And we made this beat, which basically came out of the fact that he was like, ‘This beat’s trash.’ And he slowed it down, super. And he was like, ‘This is some good s***.’ laughs I was like, ‘Aight.’”

Alex G is actually on both Self Control and White Ferrari too
but yea it's sad. Def need way more Archy x Rap collabs, MIKE, Earl, Frank, Tyler... all of that needs to happen still
Jadasea was in his f***ing bag on old earth. Completely stole the show imo
facts, he came thru with the bars. Still in love with MIKE's flows tho, particularly on that first and third joint.
Lowkey still think he was the strongest performer on stage at the Slauson x Med x MIKE x Voldy x Jada show last year too. His set made me realize just how amazing half-life is. And then two weeks later they dropped Old Earth

such a great tape damn
thx for this rec, I was sleeping hard. Rly liked his two albums from last year but this one is probably his best
Also just saw he dropped a new album last month, listening to that rn. Much more trap oriented, I dig it tho

Navy shot by SOTC/Earl/Solange collaborator and Random Acts of Flyness creator Terence Nance for Calvin Klein, along with Koffee, Megan Thee Stallion, Rina Sawayama and others

Chimezie released a project with multiple beats by both Demahjiae and Ovrkast and features from redveil and Jay Cinema. He's still very indebted to MIKE to the point where he sounds a bit like a copycat still... But I dig his energy.
Highly recommend subscribing to his youtube channel for the reaction vids anyway, almost exclusively of new projects from this scene. I don't even watch any other reaction channel but his vids are rly enjoyable, again I just dig his energy and he obviously understands what these guys are going for rly well. Plus I like that he just reacts and then puts a written review for a project in the description later, very good concept.

Yeah I like what he does a lot. Very tuned in to this + other related scenes which is dope
As for his music, I agree that the MIKE influence is very overbearing for the most part, but I still like his energy a lot. Seems like a real good dude too
