also 2008 is sick, like i didn't know who kimj was before his stuff w/ eric but his production is insane, also really love the way eric's voice is pitched on that 1

5 tracks in and this is miles ahead of public target

  • Nov 6, 2020

this raw singing thing he's trying out is actually pretty sick, self sabotage and mistake stand out cause of this. also the dnb breakdown delto did on mistake is crazy

the slower songs toward the end really show how far eric has come, he tried to do stuff like this on past songs like falling from heaven and disappointment, but I think these are 10x better executed and better written.
COA really the perfect title for this, especially after the year Eric has had, from get banned from AirBnB, his house getting flooded, etc.
this album cements that Ericdoa will be a household name for years to come, and he'll only continue to progress artistically. the jump from Public Target to COA in 8 months is actually insane, most artists can barely even elevate themselves given a 3 year window (*cough, the florida wave that blew up).
And there's something about the hard-hitting tracks that take up the majority of the first 7 tracks, it's like Eric is more confident musically, like he's fully aware that he's capable of great things and has found his style (Likewise is proof of this, probably one of his best songs yet, and his most mainstream friendly song thus far). On Public Target he seemed lost, at a crossroads of sorts, unsure of where to go--whereas on COA, it's as if he's gone through puberty again, but musically.
If I keep writing I'm probably going to ramble and make another terrible a***ogy, but I'm head over heels for this album, Eric really delivered. His debut is going to be something special....
