Bro I’m wondering the same thing! I’m saying that was so random, and I’m not sure if I’m missing some type of inside joke

But that’s wild AF if that’s true

That sounded real because why else would he bring up his mother getting f***ed by a rival unless he's trying to get ahead of it

It's something I could see Debbie doing for the money too but I don't know her or her life so who knows

dude eminem went out so f***ing sad. i cant imagine being this creatively stuck but most artists really are like this. not really commenting on this specifically like this was kinda cool i guess but dude really peaked with MMLP on some illmatic s***. it's like if kendrick put out gkmc then released black panther soundtrack type s*** for the rest of his discog or something. now that i think of it that's kinda the career trajectory drake ended up having. like it's not a lot of artists that can actually evolve

His best album was right after MMLP

alright you can quibble on which album you like the most, which is valid of course, but i mean i think we can all agree he peaked around that time creatively

There's few artists that didn't peak early, especially in rap.

Kendrick so far has already peaked with either gkmc or tpab take your pick. That doesn't mean he's fallen off, but that was his best.

Drake peaked with his second or third album as well.

Jayz and Nas peaked with their first albums as well.

Who in rap peaked way later besides Kanye? Wayne because he started so young?

Very few all time artists is my point.

    I do. It's more palatable.
I think mmlp is the more creative project and obviously a classic. But the em show vibe and flow has always been my favorite.

  • Say this to Eminem fans and they act like Em is the most battle tested rapper ever. His resume is TRASH

i mean my post was less about peaking in perceived quality and more about the fact that kendrick continued to have novel fresh ideas after GKMC instead of some of these niggas just redoing their albums over and over.

and overall… trying to objectively say what work is “best” when this is art we’re talking about is kinda unhelpful. i mean to many section.80 is his best and if you wanna go off acclaim TPAB is the peak. you’re saying “clearly” like it’s clear when it clearly isn’t especially with an artist like kendrick. i’ve seen people make the case that mr morale or untitled unmastered is his “peak”. what y’all are really saying is that kendrick is such a creative, eclectic and ambitious artist that so many of his projects could be considered “peak”. if we’re keeping it a buck, for me personally DAMN is his “peak”, but what i’m really and what we’re all really saying is that it’s our favorite, because for the most part you can’t objectively say what work is best when you’re dealing with what the consensus pretty much all consider highly competent and unique works that could exist independently of one another and still be considered as such under real critical scrutiny. so GKMC isn’t HIS peak, it’s the peak of his work FOR YOU (and many others). which is valid, of course.

with someone like eminem, it’s still a matter of opinion, but it’s a lot more arguable that he seemed to be a lot more creative and daring with his music back then instead of boring, safe and out of original ideas as he seems to have been for more than a decade ago. barely anyone is claiming revival or this latest s*** whatever it is as his peak, if anyone at all. see what i’m getting at? sorry if that’s not clear

I think the case with Em is his best albums revolved around his life. He truly drived off talking about his family and he had that angst.

The guy has went through alot. Between 2004-2006 alone he got divorced a second time to the same person, his best friend was killed by gun violence and he nearly survived an overdose to the point he could barely even speak.

The man had to relearn how to do things like rap and function.

He's not the same person he was in those times. Going through experiences like that changes you fundamentally. His genius was through some of the dark and twisted s*** he put out.

Tbf, I know some people don't like recovery but the direction clearly hit with the public. The album was massive and he wasn't doing the same s***. Very few artists can make that can kind of Renaissance commercially.

The fact that em can still have #1 albums this late in the game is a testament to how big of an impact he made on people's lives. He's not the most creative artist but it isn't the same exact thing over and over.

yeah you’re right, i should’ve been clearer. not that he was doing the slim shady thing over and over, he definitely transformed into not afraid type s*** then i guess turned into this elder statesman rapper’s rapper type deal… i guess i personally just don’t find it that interesting, although the fact that many disagree is just proving what i was saying. i guess there are folks that would call a latter day em album his best
