I was playing Skate 1 yesterday while listening to "Asking to Break" by James Blake, realizing that track would go along perfectly with a skateboarding montage

my skate 2 disc stopped working

Emulate it if u got a pc

laptop runs rpcs3 and xenia ok but 360 still better

Maybe the disc can work in a Series X
Cus backwards compatibility for older titles doesn’t have the games running from the disc; it’s merely used to ID the game

The recent game doesnt look like anything special and its fine just give us skate 2 with better graphics and a new map

Yeah it’s bizarre that all this playtesting is even necessary.. Skate is a proven franchise with 3 mainline games; they’re not new at this s*** lmao, plus they still have the backing from the biggest 3rd-party publisher in the world

Gotta think the last skate game came out 14 years ago from a different developer. This a whole new team coming up with this and when they announced it in 2020, they said they were in the early stages.

For 4.5 years of work though you’d think they’d be holding beta tests and not showing footage from pre-pre alphas

it's not the game itself that takes all the time it's the live service aspect that's always the hold up

they gotta try their best to make sure the s*** don't get shut down after one year like many of the other live service failures we've seen

For this new Skate, they brought back the veteran devs that made the Skate games though
So the team structure probably consists of old core developers at the top with fresh new blood brought over.

Idk what’s really going on in these playtests. Are they testing the live-service aspects?

i dunno if youve played at all but there are completely new mechanics in this that would absolutely need playtesting heavy

parkour mechanics and persistent community map creations happening real time in a multiplayer level full of players that could easily not work across the board

the public playtesting part of this has thrown everyone off

the games taking as long as any other game, being playtested as much as any other game it just feels like its taking longer because you keep seeing it

also the MMO type world of San Vansterdam is much larger than the first 3 games and those worlds had a lot of kinks that were left in but they cant do that this time

i can see both sides on this

wish they just gave us a skate 2 or 3 remaster while we wait for the new one to be cooked properly

still such a bummer that we never got backwards compatibility for the ps5
