Seems like rage bait to me. If the build is an early-mid alpha build then there's probably a lot of s*** in there from previous ideations and the in game shop is likely going to be one of the last things they finalize. It's possible they had the idea of lootboxes at one point and made a rough concept to see how they could function and just left the code in there.

Obviously there's gonna be microtransactions but I would be somewhat skeptical of what you read about them cause since this is EA and a F2P game it has Gamers™ looking for every single possible reason for why it's gonna be the most predatory, evil game made in the last 5 years. Realistically it's just gonna have a rotating shop and battle pass system like every other game out there.
