Surprised there isn't a thread about this one. I don't want to spoil anything so I recommend people just go in blind. Very memorable watch for the year. Aura and hype moments galore.

I don't believe its actually out in most areas yet that's why. I live near an AFI theater that's had 2 individual screenings of it a couple months ago and last week as part of film fests but I missed both. I think it releases across most of its screens next month

My favorite movie ever is also about a rave (Paraísos Artificiais - 2012).

definitely an interesting watch with an audience…didnt care for it personally

I hated this movie so much. S*** was stupid and “shocking” for the sake of being shocking

It would've been way more gratuitous and agonizing if that were the case. It doesn't show the kid and the landmines are kind of comically clean. It plays more like a parable by the end. Very haunting and dreamlike. These sudden traumas that happen instantaneously and pass you by. Everything is so tenuous.

All I know is it’s sold as father and son looking for their missing kid. I was into that and them following around ravers. It got to a point where it became boring and them just traveling to the next party. And then all sudden it’s oops the kid dies, and then it’s oops land mines, and then the movie is over.

been wanting to see this in theaters but i either missed it or it hasn’t gotten a release in the bay area yet

'EDM thriller'

The tension of survival is present from the beginning. Amputees. The army showing up. Radio reports of a war. Mass migration. Scavenging for fuel. The precarity of the wasteland. Nomadic peoples. People from many cultures with many languages a la Babel. It's all very post apocalyptic. The second rave and the daughter are never very material. They're a mirage. The son dying dispels that illusion. And again, I find everything past that point very dreamlike. And the title refers to the journey on the knife's edge. They don't get anywhere. They join the herd on the railway to the horizon.

But yes the movie sets expectations one way. I just found that misdirection disarming. It leaves you very vulnerable. And I made a deeper connection to where it actually goes as a result.

It's not like "Fred Again concert has a bomb in it".

These are the vibes. Has a lot in common with a couple of movies from the 50s and 70s.
