Yo I didn't think I'd run into a thread for this on here. Had no idea about it until the trailer popped up on my algorithm a few weeks ago. Trailer went hard I wanna see this

this was worth seeing for the atmosphere, cinematography and music alone. Went on to be a bit too sadistic for my taste, but cant say it didnt work because the final 20 mins are very tense. The comparisons with Sorcerer and Gerry are apt

Nah, not yet. I've heard that people give it the slight edge over Sorcerer, which is exciting bc the latter is one of my faves of all time. I just know that im gonna love it and pretty much am just waiting for the right moment to watch it.

On topic, Sirat's been on my mind these past couple of days, even gave the ost a couple of spins today, gonna have to go back and check out Laxe's previous work.

I watched Wages and Sorcerer in the same week. Def not just a remake or anything. Good stuff

It would've been way more gratuitous and agonizing if that were the case. It doesn't show the kid and the landmines are kind of comically clean. It plays more like a parable by the end. Very haunting and dreamlike. These sudden traumas that happen instantaneously and pass you by. Everything is so tenuous.

    ur so wise

It's not like "Fred Again concert has a bomb in it".

These are the vibes. Has a lot in common with a couple of movies from the 50s and 70s.

I'm not sure what to make of this on a first watch tbh

I feel like there is something intentionally subversive with the way this is structured and written though, not sure if it's what these characters represent esp to the kid or their priviliege compared to the migrants at the end, or if it's like... on the audience for expecting a different movie from the first half

I especially say that cause I feel like that second half is supposed to be that darkly funny, including the kid dying because of the awkwardness afterwards but idk if the full house that I watched this with liked any of that

I think this would benefit from a rewatch but unfortunately I hate being easily startled so idk if I'd want to rewatch the second half
