No one on the planet earth but you thinks what I just said was crazy. The opening scene of Basterds is constantly referred to as the best scene he’s ever written.
I don’t think it peaks there though

the climax is way too pulpy for me but the intro is exquisite

It’s a great scene but it’s just a few minutes that sets up part of the story.

Just a few minutes where QT actual equalled Leone at his best
crushed he didn't maintain that vibe every time I watch it

I definitely see what you mean. I think the conversation between the woman and the Nazi in the future brings down the film
People cheering on the murders at the end of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will never not be one of the most uncomfortable moments I’ve had in a cinema

F***ing finally
nobody's ever agreed with me on this

You guys are both the odd ones when it comes to this. It’s cathartic seeing sadistic mass murderers get what’s coming to them through the lens of escapist fiction. He uses his typical bursts of violence and by extension his artistic idiosyncrasies to change history, It’s frankly beautiful. Regurgitating dated Roger Ebert slasher movie talking points about violence against women in the context of the Manson family is comical. The people cheering and laughing in the audience are the normal ones.

I was cheering like crazy

I can’t imagine being like “yikes” watching this scene. All the lame think pieces that came out around the time of this releasing are so embarrassing in retrospect.
Yeah cause you’re a real one
Elric bringing up a Vietnam parallel was interesting tho

they were embarrassing at the time too and based Quentin called them out when he could

You can read an interesting angle into anything, but if evaluating a piece of art through whatever framework that is concludes with a moral dismissal—then I don’t have any interest in it.

This is S-tier QT

one of my fav audience experiences cause of how tense it was

!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvCgpyNSm90Yeah he’s got these great one liners regardless of who’s coming at him. When it’s the conservative mothers against violence in movie types finger wagging about Kill Bill, he’s like “cause it’s fun Jan”. When it’s these cynical journalists trying to flip a narrative into a headline he’s like “I reject your hypothesis” and when it’s Howard Stern trying to get him to admit his movies couldn’t be made today he’s just like “I could”.

I’m telling you you’re gonna come up on this being top 3. That Out of Time sequence where all the lights come on in the city at night is just so good.
Idk how I rank QT movies since it’s been a while since I’ve seen a lot of them but the one I’ve rewatched the most is Reservoir Dogs. The simplicity of the plot, dialogue, and bottleneck third act never get old to me

if it would be in my top 3, it would be behind H8ful and Kill Bill. Fighting Basterds and maybe Pulp Fiction for that spot

Everybody just told me I was a moron lol
