Why would he say this. How often to directors say s*** like that?
I don’t know why, but he has said it before.
Cause he's a f***in weirdo
There’s nothing weird about what he said. He’s just saying if you’re favorite film of his is the least like the rest of his filmography than you probably don’t fully connect with his sensibilities.
I don’t think I said that. I like him fine enough though.
Definitely remember you comparing Swept Away favorably to Malick
But what happens when you watch City on fire? Or The Killing or the other films that heavily influenced RD
I gotta watch City on Fire and get back to you... I feel like collecting aspects from different movies and combining them is a little different from just how singular the relationship between Snowblood and Bill is. At least to me.
And then w something like Dirty Dozen and Inglorious B******s, similar or not the first movie is just not that good to me so I don’t care in that case
Oh yeah 100. Just make it however many it is instead of rounding it up or down.
it's an arbitrary number. can't put any films newer than 2006
There's Something About Mary really is tho
I would put it on the same level as the OG Heartbreak Kid
avi

City on Fire is closely similar.
Even though I prefer Ringo Lam's.

I really don’t see this with Snowblood and Kill Bill. It’s one major influence, but one of hundreds. It owes as much to Hong Kong martial arts films as it does Japanese samurai ones. I mean he’s taking from Battle Royale as much as The Searchers. I think it’s his ultimate example of pastiche.

Yea I only seen Hollywood twice and its the movie QT should be making at this point imo. I would love to see him tackle something like a modern day Sweet Smell of Success, something with reporters
Tarantino's Ace in the Hole
Do you think QT made the right choice by removing Django from Hateful 8?
absolutely
F is for fake or Hoop dreams honestly. I like Paris is burning too
paris is burning birthed most of modern culture
all recent twitter/tik tok slang is copied from there

Like when you revisited Guy Ritchie and realized he's still your goat
Gentlemen and Wrath of Men are v good
Kill Bill was my favorite Tarantino until I saw Lady Snowblood. There’s way too many similarities for me, and Lady Snowblood is already quality af so it’s not like QT is upgrading his influences there
Now my fav is Reservoir Dogs
Reservoir Dogs does the same s*** with City on Fire that Kill Bill does with Lady Snowblood
