Yeah I was confused. Maybe he just meant feminist. But the he also mentioned Kane

I misunderstood their question then. I simply thought they were asking what films I would have preferred to have seen towards the top of the list instead.

It was indeed posited confusingly. I didn't even realize he was asking a question till he hit you with the response.
They’re intelligent which is a nice change of pace from my normal interactions on here. Not to be snobby.
I apologize if my comments were phrased rudely, it’s a topic I’m somewhat attached to. I tend to be skeptical when people discuss agendas in this sort of context… it’s just a different worldview. I will try to refrain from arguing anymore because I think I’ve posted enough 🫠
I’m watching Varda’s Gleaners & I for the first time tonight. And will probably do Akerman’s News From Home over the weekenD

all trash
oh no, Paul Schrader falling victim to the reactionary "let more people (re: women) vote - must be 'woke'" rhetoric. Sad to see, especially from the writer of Taxi Driver
talking about "who counts the votes" and increased voting opportunities like some sort of conservative pundit. not sure what his understanding of democracy is
I just wanna say your takes have all been intelligent, and you're absolutely right that this kind of speech on his part borders on the bitterly conspiratorial. Embarrasing rethoric.

Nothing sadder and lamer than a pretentious mf. Especially when talking about something as subjective as art.
came here looking for Denis
they be overrating citizen kane on s&s lol.. bit surprised its only 3rd this time
I am excited to watch Touki Bouki too, should try and find it actually been on my list for a while. Have you seen Hyenas (1992) yet? @op I loved that one!
no fincher and tarantino is fine tbh
It would be if shut like Get Out wasn’t on there
Honestly doesn't matter what the credentials of the critics are. These lists and all others like them are a disease in film culture. They hinder wider discovery and appreciation, and their negative impact lasts for many decades.
There's a Star Wars game (KOTOR2) with an old British Sith lady in it and I read this in her voice cause it sounds like something she would say

Paul Schrader isn't one of the QAnontology OT III members, but his politics are bit mixed, but leaning on the left and only if you dig in more of his facebook posts. ( Twitter Account about Paul's Posts ) To me with an eclectic taste in films, I agree at most points.

Nah, but I’d love to get around to it. Touki Bouki was the first thing I saw by the director and its veery cool.
Do you recall Hyenes as surreal or more of a grounded, narratively straightforward movie? Asking because Touki Bouki was way more abstract than I expected
