The engraving thing also doesn't make sense to me. School shooters do it because they're nuts and know they're going to die. This is a high profile assassination where the killer obviously intends to escape. Once again, not trying to be conspiracy brained but it would not shock me for one second if at the very least they are fabricating evidence to try to avoid embarrassment, all while fanning the flames by linking it to the trans shooter panic.
If the shooter wanted to send a pro trans message they would've done it in a manifesto.
