i lucked out and had jonathan, so it wasn't too bad. fortunately got it on my first attempt. nice that 4a gives the QOL where you can choose a partner (which really should've been the standard in 4 lol).

and yeah man, the samurai armor is so damn clean

I just reached Tokyo , I gotta say the beginning of this game has been way harder than Nocturne or SMTV so far holy f***, I have had to do so much grinding and I don't recall doing that in those other games at all in the early game

the game gets considerably easier once you're outside of naraku, but yeah, the beginning is rough

i'd pull up a world map in another window or something whenever you're in the overworld because the map in game is so genuinely awful. you have no idea where the hell you're going

beat SMT4A, in terms of battle mechanics/gameplay i think i may have enjoyed this more than even SMTV. even with a little bit of macca/AP DLC abuse near the end to fuse some cool demons, the difficulty curve kept a consistent enough challenge throughout to keep me engaged.

story/characters wasnt as bad as people made it out to be (im surprised i ended up not hating gaston and navarre# by the end) but it wasnt all great either, i did the !#bonds# ending and that !#dagda 2 s*** still got me scratching my head a little.

OST f***ing slaps, im glad they made liberal use of IV's already amazing soundtrack and added a few new bangers to the mix

it's definitely my favorite of the numbered games. fantastic game. i actually really love the bonds ending, though like you said, the second dagda thing is kinda weird, but i write it off because i just enjoyed everything else so much
