Is all the hype about nocturne being like a souls game for rpgs cap? Like if I played persona on normal would I be just blown away by the difficulty of it?

The souls comparison is pretty dumb (but for some reason the director of the nocturne remaster uses that himself???) but yeah id say the difficulty is greater than the persona games. Theres a reason why bosses like Matador and Mot are basically the biggest memes in Nocturne for their unfair difficulty (Matador having a move that immediately lowers all your stats and Mot having a move that grants him more turns)

Nocturne assumes you know your way around a proper traditional JRPG and in that sense it does NOT hold your hand whatsoever. It's not necessarily as hard as people claim but it can be very, very unfair at times and if you don't utilize buffs and debuffs you will literally get nowhere. Most encounters should be manageable though and if you're familiar with Persona then you'll somewhat understand the combat of Nocturne.

One thing I don't see people bring up a lot is that the exploration in Nocturne can be just as rage-inducing as the combat tbh. If you aren't talking to every NPC or scouring every inch of the dunfeons then you'll probably end up lost. I never finished Nocturne because I couldn't handle how hands-off it was with story progression lol.

I kind of hope there's some sort of Camera or a Journal system or something in the future games so you can have a clearer idea of where to go next as well as where you've already been.
