They been disappointing me since lese majesty. F*** Erik blood. Gonna check this out since the single was solid tho
Not a fan of the mixing but it’s a return to form for sure. Reminiscent of the first couple projects.

I agree although I thought quazarz vs jealous machines was great, but since then yeah quality dipped
This new project tho?
seems like a return to form imo
it's crazy that Shabazz Palaces is lowkey oldhead music at this point like they're a decade and a half in now and only started two decades after Ish's first group lol
I thought people tuned in for Black Up then found out they were old and hopped off the train or some s*** lol

honestly they arrived in the scene sounding like absolutely nothing else and the newest s*** you've heard it was rather the opposite
ppl starting finding out and being mindblown Ish was in Digable Planets and only respected them more for that. I haven't rly seen what you describe tbh, if anything it was more a new generation (me for example) learning about the earlier group.
it's honestly almost a unique case of someone from a legendary 90s group being able to pull off a new project like this that rivals or maybe even tops the quality of earlier classic material two decades into the game

Real, was just going off how ageist the hip hop scene can be lol
Very sick and in depth interview.
Wild hearing him talk about the struggle of being broke and not thinking he would ever be able to cut through musically again before he dropped the first two EP's off at some stores and Sub Pop found him. Apparently he lost his house and his mom passed and he was really struggling. Didn't even want to talk about that period of time. Insane to think he came out of that and not making music to create those first two joints.
Also interesting that he never met Lil Peep and Lil Tracy never came to him or his mom about music he just did it on his own.
His favorite Lil Tracy song being Like a Farmer is hilarious too

I could see this happening but for a lot of people it was shockingly cool to learn “oh this is Digable planets alumni? The Cool Like That group?”
