When Gemma crossed the exit that was Mark S’s first time seeing his outies wife (and biggest trauma) and not just Ms Casey. He proceeded to close the door, turn around and run off with a different woman
Yeah I feel like the whole point of this episode, incl. the painting in the beginning is that mark is the main character at Lumon not Gemma. Also why maybe cobel is still helping them

Those of us who have been here since the very beginning know exactly what I'm talking about. The strikes delaying production, the rumors of drama in the writers room, the uncertainty and not knowing if we were even going to get a season 2, and if it would even be any good if we did... and they give us that. We ended up with something better than we could have possibly imagined.
It's still too early to tell how this is going to stack up to the all-time greats, but there's absolutely zero doubt in my mind about it being on that trajectory. What an absolute triumph of a season.
