This was f***ing fantastic. It really shows you when you choose that life you get nothing in return at the end of the day. If you don't get murdered you die a lonely old man that did nothing of actual value with your life. S*** is dark

Is Action Bronson actually in it?
the most random s*** lol but it fits perfectly. he has maybe 60 seconds of screen time speaking with deniro towards the end of the movie
Yea in response to you bringing up another YouTuber lmao.
Your essentially a lesser version of sas just a loud mouth without the little bit of knowledge he’s got.

Tarantino's portrayal of Tate was confusing, to say the least.
What’s confusing about it? She’s the soul of the film. She doesn’t do or say much but she represents the films entire purpose as kind of this free spirit that roams around Tarantinos story and world
If anything Franks daughter is the heart that beats what makes him from when he jumps that dude to what breaks him when she looks at him when they hear about Hoffa and deserts him, it’s what makes the movie what it is if you take that away it’s another movie
That’s just good writing
she is an extension of frank that allows the viewer to understand the emotional turmoil of being in the mob, killing mfkrs and doing dirt, but only because at that moment, you think it is what you need to do to protect your family, provide for them, and to be a loyal man to the people who gave you a place in the world. crazy. now if only they gave peggy like 5-10 minutes more of her own character development...then she'd feel less like an extension of frank and more like her own person
agree with you 100% about his family life not being fleshed out. there's a similar quandary in Road to Perdition and that's fleshed out pretty well. his fixation with catholic guilt in the final hour meant that he had to make up for Frank's lack of family time in other parts and it was especially noticeable during Frank's testimonial dinner with several shots of Peggy and Hoffa.
Scorsese was lacking in that regard and it definitely affected how I viewed his attempted Godfather parallel between Frank and Michael, being completely isolated from their family at the end. The only difference is in the Godfather it felt earned, Michael did some heinous things that irrevocably damaged his familial relationships. I guess Scorsese was trying to frame Hoffa's murder as that point for Frank?
I get Hoffa/Russ dynamic with his family and Hoffa was warm/genuine in contrast to Russ who was not liked by Peggy but for once I do agree with these mob guys that they did all they could. Hoffa knew he was putting Frank in a tough situation. Peggy seems smart enough to put two and two together about her old man, is she naive about who Hoffa really was and who he was associating with>?
So basically you wanted this movie to be exactly like The Godfather
The difference here is that The Irishman is a film told from Franks recollection and Godfather is a saga that doesn’t have a POV
