the editing with those "uuuhhh yeah definitely French new wave" jump cuts?
Don’t know what the f*** you’re talking about
I said what I said
The symbolism actually run deep af this s*** transcends just being a "mafia" movie, also Pesci needs an Oscar because he was like a mediator holding every plot point together and slowly stitching the story with complete bipartisan activity. Showed Frank's loyalty in the end was fickle because he committed that murder and even though it weighed on him deeply it eventually was just business as usual and the biggest regret he had was getting locked up for that car and not being able to bond with his family.
S*** ton of talking points, too many places to start, the build up in this, the pacing and storytelling is some of the best i've ever seen in cinema period
he deserves an Oscar for his acting, not because his character is important in the plot. what kinda argument is tha??
Goodfellas and Irishman are amazing sides of the same coin
One glamorizing the mob life and the other showing the PTSD inducing dark sides of it, though both do that to an extent this s*** becomes an amazing character study on human conscious, morals, ethics, loyalty and regret and would work well as a late magnum opus for Papa S

The hell are you talking about? Of course for his acting, I was detailing what MADE his character so great. He was a character actor in this, don't quote me with no bullshit I'm not in the mood for your c***weirdos today

you said he "deserves an oscar because" and went on a rant about how much you liked his character.
"he was a character actor in this, don't quote me with no bullshit"

no?
I’m not talking quality
The scope of the story and editing is on par with The Godfather Saga specially
Especially part 2, touched on similar themes

Right but the Saga was an edit of Vito in 2 -> Godfather 1 -> Michael in 2
more similar, chronologically
Like OUATIA

Hope there's a directors cut with more of Frank in Italy during the war
To flesh out his character arc more and let us know how he came to be the cold motherfucker he is
its top 3 scorsese imo
thats crazy talk now you gotta at least name the other 2

I love how complex their relationship was because Russ basically used Frank in every way to get what he wanted (using the gold ring as a way to buy his loyalty so he could get him to kill Jimmy, only telling him the bare minimum to persuade him to do things, etc.), but despite that there was a genuine relationship that is forged between them even if it is one out of using. "I chose us over them" is such a perfect send off for that character and a great line to capture how american institutions force people to be put into situations that becomes a matter of survival even in social situations.

Who tf in here been hating on Silence
