that’s like saying Panic at the Disco shouldn’t be considered a big influence on pop punk just because a lot of the people they inspired were less skilled than them at songwriting and vocally
it doesn’t really make his influence less strong
just makes it more variable
and tbh, it shows that there’s a lot of nuance in what he does that most of his progeny are never able to translate his style into something that sounds good without being put in the box of “Drake-lite”

Everyone has their own opinion. It's not that the beat is slow, it's just a boring beat choice. Also the flow and bars aren't that interesting to me but maybe this'll grow on me

I feel like the controversy around his political views and label issues did more to make him decline than the Lasers album. it’s just revisionist history because people see what the end result is today. Even though his core fanbase doesn’t love it, Lasers is still his most commercially successful album til this day. Show goes on is 3x Platinum. but we pretend nobody was listening to it because that’s what the popular opinion was among his specific audience
