even TML era Drake was picking pretty great and unique instrumentals compared with the rest of the game and that’s part of what pushed Drake into the top tier so quickly
I agree his ear for production has grown a bit more basic with time
he doesn’t pick Bad beats necessarily, but he doesn’t pick beats that are standouts very often
maybe Champagne Poetry or What’s Next from recent memory but back then he was in a deep bag
