the way it's used in among us is the way it's been used for years now. acting sus just means acting weird, out of character, suspicious, etc. you should know this.

sus transcended "gay" a long time ago

no way sus means suspicious 🤯

  • Jun 7, 2021

i've been using it the same way for years as well but outside of me and my friends about 90% of the time it's used to refer to smth being gay in my experience

yes i know this anecdotal but w/e

But if you use sus to underline or pinpoint unintentional homosexual implications in a rap bar or someones wording than it kinda feels homophobic

fool if you use ANY word in that context it would feel homophobic

y’all be tryna make slang into slurs when they ain’t

if someone wants to be homophobic, they’re gonna find another word to use instead of the ones y’all cancelling and it’s still gonna have the same effect

You seem a little edgy, but I agree with this.
You can use the term “sus” in a lot of different ways. If your underlying connotation in saying a lot of things is that homosexuality is bad, it doesn’t really matter what word you use.

For example, if I see a white dude with sunglasses and a mustache, that’s “sus” because it’s typical narc s***. If someone says “odd” in regard to a friend saying something that could be construed as homosexual then the use of the word odd is effectively doing the same thing as “sus”.

Should that word be conflated with bigotry if it’s use can be in a homophobic way amongst the million other ways?

I think the focus on homophobia and it’s subversiveness is important, but we can’t police language like that. Sus isn’t a slur.

Saw this thread and just had to say it. And yes, context matters. Its not homophopic if its used in the context of the game Among Us. But if you use sus to underline or pinpoint unintentional homosexual implications in a rap bar or someones wording, than it kinda feels homophobic. It always implies that there is something wrong with homosexuality.

I agree that these threads during Pride Month are incredibly tone deaf
