I pre-ordered the vinyl and I gotta say… I’m disappointed tbh. Like, I appreciate it from a technical aspect and respect her for being bold and not giving us another Motomami, but I’d be lying if I said I wanted to listen to this on a consistent basis. It sounds like soundtrack music that should be accompanying a short film titled “LUX” if that makes sense.

Tried listening at the gym. Obviously not a gym album. Tried listening in my car. That didn’t work either. Tried listening while I was cleaning my crib. I just couldn’t get into it.

Interested to see how her setlists are gonna look on her next tour. Is she gonna just perform this album? I can’t see her doing cuts from this and sprinkling Candy, Despecha, Malamente and other songs in between. Glad yall enjoy it tho and Im happy she’s getting great reviews even if it wasn’t for me.

Honestly this sounds amazing, I hear your critiques but I love that she’s committing to a project like this. She’s got the talent in spades, I’m hoping there’s a visual component of some kind to your point even if just a live recording. Sounds like a true experience.

Setlists will definitely be interesting - I do hope she tours again. I missed the Motomami tour and will forever be pissed bc I was moving at the time, but I caught her at ACL in 2019 and was lucky enough to get into her Austin City Limits tv performance taping which was genuinely incredible. Catalina at that show remains one of my favorite vocal performances I’ve ever seen live.

I felt the same with Motomami, I felt it was a drop off from El Mal Querer. I bump El mal querer all the time and never go back to motomami, this to me is more of a el mar querer sound so im delighted.
