yall let an actual racist be a hip hop gatekeeper that's crazy
rorys not racist tho he’s just a cornball
rorys not racist tho he’s just a cornball
plus in no way is he a gatekeeper of anything lmao
As I said I was there on twitter in this time period so this isn't a vacuum. There's a big difference between comedy and racially punching down on people for validation. Comedy is intricate, it knows the ins and outs of the culture, has a setup, timing, tonal inflections and a punchline, being good at all is why Chapelle is a master at it. These tweets aren't that, they were just racist if you care to read them, calling them jokes sounds like a way to deflect for him, making you part of the problem.
That's just lazy - again not only did it spawn all these wider conversations it also allowed us to see how the person himself reacted to it and he reacted poorly. The normal argument in these cases is that they were a kid and people change but he's clearly the same person based on his responses, as someone said earlier he was around 25 when these were made.
i'm solution based. if we're focused on rory, then what would you want people to do going forward? there would be 2 crowds, those who are like me, who already don't listen to his podcast, or anything else he does, not necessarily out of principle, but just don't engage with it for w/e reason. then you have those that do.
other than saying hey this is an issue, which all these tweet witch hunts seem to do, what is the actual path forward in this specific case?
Maybe you don't but I saw a lot of Kendrick fans coming to his defense a few months ago lol.
Its not a maybe girl
Its an absolute f*** no from me
rorys not racist tho he’s just a cornball
idk who he is i just read those tweets and feel like they speak for themselves. i know he's some kind of hip hop figurehead or podcaster or something bc yall always be posting about all these niggas on here
If they be on some corny tap dancing s*** it needs to be said unfortunately
but even wesley snipes ass niggas can be on that type of time. their actual genetic makeup got nothing to do with it fam. black is black

Read my first reply to your question again I beg, if you were really "solution based" you would care about some of these other topics. You keep reducing this back to him and the tweets.
I've said many times I'm not focused on him, I acknowledged they were racist and quickly moved my interest to all the other convos like this "back in the day" excuse narrative and hip hop media and now the fact that you can't even see racism in the tweets or can't bother to confirm whether they were jokes or not.
Again this isn't solely about whether you, I or others listen to a single podcast lol.

i said we can move off rory, then you brought it back to him and said I was part of the problem
this'll be the last thing i'll say on this... i don't see how i could be part of the problem when I don't listen to his podcast, never been to dusse palooza, or anything he's got going on. again not out of principle, i'm just cool on it. this is the most oxygen i've given rory maybe since they left JBP. Tried to listen to their podcast after that incident cause I ain't like the way that went, but just wasn't engaging enough for me. outside of clips that come across my timeline here and there, i keep it scrolling. like even if i take it at face value, and say yea he's racist, all those tweets are racist, and is how he really feels.
and again, you can remove rory from the above, and substitute it with anything, if a person already does not engage with said thing people are outraged about, what is that person suppose to do? you say we need gatekeeping, that is an abstract solution as you're presenting it. im not trying to get you in a gotcha moment, but it's just like what are we doing?

I ain't about to be doing this bruh I made myself clear already lol

I never said you're a fan of his content or events I obviously don't know you personally lol.
When I say part of the problem I mean that you first used the same "that's how people were back in the day" excuse that others have been using after admitting you didn't even know the context of his tweets and then reduced his blatant racism to jokes.
I already answered this but you ignored it. Hip hop media is full of people like this to the point that you will see content or people discussing their content without seeking it out, racists and coons linking up and becoming popular is an issue. It's only abstract because you and some others are not willing to engage in these convos. If people can't even point out racism and coonery when they see it which is stage 1 then of course you won't see an issue that needs solving. Explaining to people what isn't healthy and why and then promoting alternatives in the space is viable solution and has worked among the people who care.

Don't hit the same when this guy is black and a random twitter nigga
Yeah man I don't care how old these tweets were. This c***feeling comfortable enough to say this s*** at any point when he's been working in media, specifically relating to Black culture, is crazy.
Get him outta here.
