Only reason they are saying last gen is cause one of the leaks (from 2019 build) showed the ps4 UI.

It’s how ALL sequels work. F*** it’s how all game’s work for existing engines / companies

They make the base of the game to make sure it passes the “fun test” by reusing all old assets / doing the bare minimum. Once it passes that then they polish it and make it pretty with all new assets and animations

Most likely the testers opened the files the last time in 2021/2022
