I hope it’s a way to restrict islands and section off parts of the map, allowing you to unlock the map as it goes

I think people are split on this but gta 5 basically giving you all of the Los santos that you’ll spend 90% of the game in from the first mission made the map feel smaller. I hope the progression throughout the map is slower and more natural

In GTA IV I loved seeing Manhattan from across the bridge for the first big chunk of hours in the game. Thematically it works as part of the come up story and gameplay wise it just spreads out the exploration is a fun way
